$389.97 $526.46

Providing performance at a reasonable price for most beginners, the Explore Scientific 52° Series 25mm Eyepiece produces a low power in most telescopes, and is a perfect addition to your observation arsenal.

Outfitted with a generous 52° apparent field of view, it employs a flat-field lens system that is treated with their proprietary Enhanced Multi-Layer Deposition (EMD) coatings to produce bright and clear views that are flat edge-to-edge. This lens design makes this eyepiece ideal for averted viewing techniques in which you view dim deep sky objects, such as wispy nebulae, indirectly using the portion of the eye that is most sensitive to light.

This model of the 52° series is offered here with a standard 1.25" barrel to make it compatible with the most popular size drawtubes and accessories. The eyepiece is argon-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof against condensation and dew and resistant to fogging. A textured collar provides a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold weather or while wearing gloves. A fold down rubber eyecup makes it comfortable and easy to view through, with or without eyewear.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the Outside Diameter of this focuser where it hooks to the telescope? Wanting to replace a bad focuser and need one 3.5" in diameter for the connection.

A: The Diameter of the Explore Scientific APO EDT Series Rack & Pinion Focuser (2") is 3 inches, so it won't fit a 3.5 ".

Q: 2. Is it advisable to use a barlow lense with Televue eyepieces?

A: This is a fairly high powered Eyepiece. I would only go with a Barlow if you had a Scope with a large Objective around 8", and up.

Q: 3. Will this work with an Evostar 72 APO refractor?

A: Yes, the Explore Scientific Field Flattener for f/5 to f/7 Refractors is compatible with the Sky-Watcher Evostar ED APO 72mm f/5.8 Refractor.

Q: 4. Is there an adapter to fit this to an edge hd 9.25?

A: There is no adapter but you can use this Alpine focuser instead: https://bhpho.to/2H2Fnmp

Q: 5. I need to know 2 things: what is the maximum it is designed for ?[in pounds/ounces, or grams] (i have a suitable mount. Secondly, as I hope to retrofit this to an existing OTA, what is the minimum length when racked fully in?

A: This 2" Crayford Style Focuser from Explore Scientific is a dual-speed focuser that comes with the APO EDT series telescopes, and is sold here as a spare part or replacement. It is not intended for use with any other brand or model telescope.

Q: 6. How much weight it can carry?

A: It is designed to support a substantial mount of weight. What you should be more concerned about is the total amount ow weight that is on your mounting system and tripod.

Q: 7. What is the thread size on the camera side? Is it M42x0.75 or M48x0.75? Does it include an M48 adapter?

A: On the camera side the threads are M42 for standard T-mounts.

Q: 8. HOW THIS EYEPIECE'S QUALITY COMPAIR TO THE 24 MM PANOPTIC EYEPIECE ?

A: The Panoptic is slightly better... it's nowhere near 2x better, which is usually the price difference. I tested out quite a few televue vs ES eyepieces in 68, 82, and 100 degrees and have always found the ES to be the best bang for the buck by a pretty noticeable margin.

Q: 9. Does this fit on the ES 102mm?

A: Yes it is compatible with the Explore Scientific 102mm f/7 Essential Apochromatic ED Triplet Refractor.

Q: 10. does it fit the explore Scientific AR152?

A: No, the Explore Scientific Crayford Style Focuser for APO EDT Series Telescopes (2") will not fit the Explore Scientific AR152. This is a spare part or replacement for APO EDT series telescopes.

I have more experience now, and a better telescope (Vixen ED80sf).
I can tell you that this eyepiece is really excellent optically, the field adequate and the eye relief very comfortable. Very well built too. For less than $100, it is a bargain.

My go to, first out of the case eyepiece. Nice optics. I say this from a photographers background with little experience in the astronomy realm so I don’t know what I don’t know. I will say this is a very good choice over the kit eyepiece my Celestron 8HD came with.

Even though the Celestron Nexstar 6SE comes with a 25mm eyepiece, the X-Cel 25mm eyepiece is a tremendous improvement. Longer eye relief and larger field of view make this my go-to eyepiece

I will use this as my wider field of view, it is after all a Celestron, and I am very much a Celestron customer. Never a problem.

I own 5 of this series and really enjoy the wider field of view than I was getting with the standard plssl's that came with my scopes. Very well constructed and very close to being para-focal. I do have to adjust focus a bit when going to the higher magnifications but it i really close to begin with. If I every get a larger scope that can handle last two, I'll probably complete the set.

I bought my Celestron X-Cell LX eyepiece for the lowest price I found. Delivery was prompt with no hassle. I will be buying more from B & H,
