Waves eMotion LV1 16 Stereo Channels is a digital software mixer with 16 stereo/mono input channels designed for front-of-house, foldback, and broadcast live sound mixing applications. It employs the SoundGrid infrastructure for audio networking and a 32-bit floating point mix engine to deliver pristine audio at sample rates up to 96 kHz and with latency as low as 0.8 ms, along with an intuitive, flexible, and fast workflow, ideal for demanding live environments.

eMotion LV1 gives you precise control over your live sound mixing with eight aux channels (stereo/mono), L/R panning, and up to eight SoundGrid-compatible plug-ins directly on each channel (Waves or third-party plug-ins). All saved plug-in presets and chains can be shared with the Waves MultiRack and StudioRack plug-in hosts, enabling you to move seamlessly between live and studio environments.

The main mixer window gives you the most important info you need at a glance including all channel inputs and parameters, routing, plug-in inserts, and more. Additional windows provide more detailed views. You can use the channel window for focused control of your plug-ins, including a Touch-and-Slide slider for quick and easy control of all plug-in parameters.

The software can be configured as a portable or stationary setup, and can connect to any SoundGrid-compatible I/O or server, allowing you to work on your sessions online or offline, at home, in your hotel room, on the tour bus, or at the live venue.

eMotion LV1 provides support for up to four multitouch screens, as well as diverse industry-standard control surfaces. It ships with the eMo D5 Dynamics, eMo F2 Filter, eMo Generator, and eMo Q4 Equalizer plug-ins, optimized for live environments.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What’s the WiFi range

A: The integrated Wi-Fi for Mackie's DL16S operates on the 2.4 GHz band which can reach up to 150 feet (46 meters) indoors and 300 feet (92 meters) outdoors.

Q: 2. Does vMix 4K Live support the Magewell Pro Capture Quad HDMI Video Capture Card 11100?

A: Yes, Magewell Pro Capture Cards are compatible with vMix.

Q: 3. Do these inputs have assignable phantom power?

A: Yes, phantom power can be assigned to individual XLR inputs on the Mackie DL16S 16-Channel Wireless Digital Live Sound Mixer with Built-In Wi-Fi through the Input Routing View on the Mackie Master Fader App.

Q: 4. Can I record each of the pre-amp channels individually while playing a live show in Sonar Software LE? Cheers

A: the USB output on the ZED 16FX is only able to output 2 channels simultaneously. Main Mix (Post-fade), the Main Mix (Pre-Fade), Auxes 1-2, or Auxes 3-4. Unfortunately there are no individual outputs available on this unit.

Q: 5. if I use the inserts can I match this with a Focusrite Pro 40 for multitrack recording? Also is there a rackmount option?

A: The ZED inserts can be used as direct outs to your Pro 40 firewire unit. However, you will need specially wired cables. A regular TS or TRS cable connected to the insert will interupt the signal flow through the channel and nothing will reach the fader. You will need to use TRS cables where the TIP and RING are connected. The rack-mount kit for the ZED-16FX is model AH-ZED18-RK19.

Q: 6. What would be the ideal PC hardware configuration for the pro version? Which Video cards, gpu, cpu are recommended or preferred?

A: I would suggest to have a look towards the hardware recommendations within the Vmix web link here. https://bit.ly/2Gh8a5C Vmix provides the component suggestions to use depending on the tasks within the software.

Q: 7. Once purchased, can it be loaded onto more than one laptop?

A: Yes, it can be loaded on to 2 computers. However you will only be able to use it on one computer at a time.

Q: 8. Could matrix mixes be added to this via software update in the future?

A: The Mackie DL16S is a live mixer not a matrix mixer. So it is very unlikely that you will be able to add matrix mixes via the software.

Q: 9. I hope this is the same version 4K as stated in vMix Software Comparison Table?

A: Yes, this is a vMix Product and the MFR number of SCSI-VMIX-4K will match up to what is on the vMix website.

Q: 10. Can you rack mount this?

A: Yes! The DL16S includes the rack ears in the box with the product. It takes up 3 rack spaces.

We are using the ZED-16FX as replacements for the Mackie 1642 series of mixers in a mobile DJ/Karaoke enviroment. We basically got tired of ribbon cable problems on the Mackies, and decided to try something new. The unit feels solid out of the box, installed easily, and powered up without a glitch. Only time will tell how rugged they actually are. but at this point I am extremely happy with this mixer.

I bought this to replace a standard board because I was tired of dealing with dealing with a board that took up a lot of room and that had to be touched to adjust any settings. And I needed more outputs for monitors. So I bought this and got a big upgrade.

Now I have a mixer where each channel has a compressor, gate, and EQ, the ability to do sub-mixes, an FX stack, and it can act as an audio interface to a computer to do multi-track recording (although I haven't tried that yet, I plan to record some live shows).

Of course all of this is controlled via the app, so this review also must include it. The app is pretty easy to navigate and does a good job providing different views that are useful when doing certain things with the mix (like setting all the levels for one of the outputs). You can also build a mix without connecting to the mixer and load the mix once you're ready. For example, I built a baseline mix sitting on my couch that I use as the initial settings. The only drawback is that at the time of this review, the app crashes on Android devices. There is supposed to be a fix for that coming soon.

One other thing that may be a consideration is mounting this in a rack. I had initially considered doing that, but one of the benefits to the mixer is that it is so small, so... I'm still deciding if it needs a case or not. The only concern is possibly knocking the antenna on the front off, everything else seems really robust. I currently think this is only a concern if you tend to be rough on equipment.

Overall, this is an amazing piece of hardware. Well worth the price.
