Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will the manfrotto 509HD be able to mount this crane? because I already own one and do not want to buy the Hercules as it is unnecessary. I really am seriously considering this crane though, so a answer would be awesome. Thanks!

A: The Manfrotto 509HD is a really nice video head, however its load capacity is only 29 pounds. This crane weighs 30 pounds before you even put a camera on it. Also the load capacity of a tripod head diminishes the further away the load gets from the center. Which is why we recommend the Hercules 2.0 Head when using this crane. It has the load capacity to handle the crane and most cameras you would put on it.

Q: 2. What is the load capacity of this motor?

A: Kessler doesn't provide a load capacity for the motors on the Kessler Crane Motor Kit for Dana Dolly. The payload has more bearing on the type of track you have and the support for such and the payload above.

Q: 3. what is needede to use this with an ursa mini and sony a7s ii?

A: This head has standard 1/4 -20 thread on the top of it. The simplest way to connect any camera to it will be to use a Quick Release Adapter Plate, such as the Manfrotto 577, B&H # MA577.https://bhpho.to/2g7RDlc

Q: 4. Does it have an electric pump or a manual pump?

A: The Kessler Crane Lamprey Adapter (8") has a manual pump. Kessler has discontinued AutoVac product line that provided electrical pump options.

Q: 5. I UNDERSTAND THE TIRE IS 6" DIAMETER, WHAT IS THE WIDTH? 1.5?

A: The Kessler Crane 6" All-Terrain Wheels for K-Pod (B&H# KETH1007) are about 1" (2.5cm) thick.

Q: 6. Does the vertical tilt lock down well when there is a heavy load on the head? The system we will be mounting will be 50+ lbs, and will need to sometimes be locked at an angle.

A: Yes, it locks very well. Two things...there is a locking pin that has to be pulled out and reinserted to lock the head AND the plate under the ball has to be reversed so the flat not curved side is against the ball. We use the Kessler Pocket Jib with a C300 and 45 lbs counterweight without issue.

Q: 7. How heavy of a camera system will this support. We are looking at the Bosch Mic 7000i camera system. This would be mounted on a truck?

A: There are configurations that allow you to use DSLR's up to RED's and Alexa's with heavy cine lenses. Basically, any camera you could use.

Q: 8. How is the balance and usability when using this on a Cineslider with a larger camera rig, since the payload is then offset on the Cineslider?

A: There should be no issues when using this for balance. You will just need to make sure you have enough support under the slider.

Q: 9. What would you need to mount the ronin M in the upright position onto this?

A: You can hang the Ronin by attaching the CineMilled DJI Ronin M Quick Plate to the bottom of the crane's camera mounting plate.

Q: 10. Is this intended to connect directly to a tripod leveling base or panning base with a 3/8" stud? Or would I use a QR plate like ARCA? What are the two knobs on the mount in the photos for - what are they securing?

A: This is designed to connect directly to the tripod.
