Employing a classic Plossl design and engineered primarily for planetary viewing, the Alpine Astronomical Baader 32mm Classic Plossl Eyepiece makes an ideal addition to your observational kit. It produces a relatively low magnification on most optical tube assemblies (OTAs), with a generous 50° apparent angle of view. This model is parfocal with Baader ortho eyepieces, which means there is little to no need to refocus when changing eyepieces within the ortho line.

The eyepiece features a 4-element/2-group lens design with a triplet-element and one plano-convex eye lens, so there are only four glass-air surfaces to limit internal diffraction and light loss. True high-transmission (HT) multi-coatings on all glass-air surfaces yield brilliant images while virtually eliminating internal reflections. When paired with the lens design, this delivers a pure-white image with improved sharpness and contrast. The interior of the anodized housing is blackened to suppress stray light and has machined threads to accept most standard 1.25" filters. The eyepiece is made with a standard 1.25" barrel so it is compatible with the most popular-sized holders and accessories. Alpine outfitted it with a winged eyecup to block stray terrestrial light to improve brightness and contrast, and a slip-on eyeguard extension tube that permits the eyeguard to be positioned further back for use with a Barlow lens or if the user prefers a shorter eye relief.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how can I adapt the Baader U-Filter 2" to a Nikkor AF-S 50mm 1:1.8G Lens?

A: 2" is the outside diameter of the filter, not the thread. It's an M48 thread as stated on the manufacturer website, baader-planetarium. Use a normal step-up ring.

Q: 2. What I feel that needs to be better explained about eyepieces and focal lengths as in 6mm or 25mm is that the opening is tiny for 6 mm as compared with 25mm that is wider . The lower the focal length the difficult it gets to train your eye throughthe opening due to its tiny opening. My child experience with my first kid telescope that came with 6mm and 25mm eyepieces told me that 25mm is more enjoyable to use despite lower magnification than the higher magnifying 6mm which is so restrictive in the opening for my eye to keep peeking through as steadiily as I can. I think that a minimum of 10mm is acceptable to me or maybe 12mm. . Am I correct?

A: Yes that is correct. 10 or 12mm will be okay. It also depends on how large of an aperture your scope has. The bigger front opening of the scope the brighter the image.

Q: 3. What accessories would I need to mount my Nikon F-mount DSLR to this eyepiece to shoot through it?

A: A T-mount adapter; BH# VELANFT. And depending on sensor size, some combination of extension tubes from the Alpine Astro T2 System for full coverage; BH# ALT225A .

Q: 4. Can I use the Baader 76 degree Morpheus 4.5 mm eyepiece in the Celestron Regal M2 100ED spotting scope I have ordered from B&H?

A: It probably wont work properly because its too magnified. The Spotting scope is too short a focal length, I would recommend a 12 mm & higher.

Q: 5. Would this help with focus issue with dslr on nexstar4? I tried using the original T adapter with my dslr and couldn't achieve focus on star.

A: Yes it may work. Also this would also be an option: Meade Variable Projection SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter for All Refractor & Reflector Telescopes which Accept 1.25" Eyepieces - Requires Camera-Specific T-Mount Adapter BH #MECAVPSFE • MFR #0736 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/202793-REG/Meade_07361_Variable_Projection_SLR_35mm.html

Q: 6. What items are in the box?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader 2x Carl Zeiss Abbe Barlow Lens (1.25") BH #ALZBARLOW • MFR #ZBARLOW comes with the Alpine Astronomical Baader 1.25"/T-2 Click-Lock Eyepiece Holder Adapter BH #ALT208 • MFR #T2-08 and a 2 year aarranty.

Q: 7. Does this work for visual astronomy also, or is it more designed for astrophotography?

A: Yes, this can be used as a conventional Barlow for viewing.

Q: 8. Is it 7mm or 10mm optical length?

A: Optical Path Length: 0.35-0.94" / 9.0-24.0 mm.

Q: 9. I have this unit purchased, but it is on back order. Now I am looking at filters to go with it. Do filters need to be 1.25" or 2" in diameter to work in combination with this eyepiece?

A: You may use both 1.25" filters and 2" filters with the Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 8-24mm Mark IV Zoom Eyepiece (1.25"/2"). According to the manufacturer, the Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 8-24mm Mark IV Zoom Eyepiece (1.25"/2") includes both 1.25" and 2" barrels. The 1¼" Barrel is threaded for standard 1¼" filters, and the 2" Barrel for standard 2" filters.

Q: 10. Does this filter block IR and UV?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader Green Colored Bandpass Eyepiece Filter (2") BH #ALFCFG2 • MFR #FCFG-2 does not block UV or IR rays.
