Designed to give you more magnification and use options than a typical Barlow, the Alpine Astronomical Baader 2.25x/1.3x Classic Q-Barlow will be a versatile and valuable addition to your planetary observation kit.

When used as a conventional Barlow, it increases the magnification of any 1.25" barrel eyepiece by a factor of 2.25x by simply dropping the eyepiece into the Barlow's holder. The front lens cell can be unscrewed from the main body and threaded onto the filter threads of an eyepiece to increase its magnification by just 1.3x. When used with the companion Baader Q-Turret eyepiece turret, the cell can be installed on the single lower barrel to increase the magnification of all four eyepieces by 2.25x. High transmission multi-coatings on the lens surfaces maximize light transmission through the lens system.

This Barlow is ideal for improving lunar and planetary observation and imaging.

I bought the 9 mm eyepiece in conjunction with the X-Cell 2x Barlow as the combination is the closest I can get to the maximum useful magnification for the NexStar Evo-8. To say the least: I am impressed by both. With regards to the Barlow, while there is expected dimming, it’s not a s much as you may expect. The image with/without the Barlow remains comparably crisp, bright and a pleasure. The first night out we were able to look at Mercury, Venus, and the faintest of the Bode’s Nebulae. Looking forward to making the time to look at the Moon in the next week.

I like the way it looks and feels. Solid construction. The rubber grip is nice.

I was able to view the moon and Jupiter with this barlow. It's super easy to use. I could swap lens to widen my field of view or zoom in. I don't have fancy lenses, just a 25mm and 10mm that came with my scope. I was able to resolve some moons around Jupiter and even some hints of banding. Very excited to explore the sky more.
