Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will these fit Sony MDR-CD570? (I know these are ancient HPs, but I love them!) Thank you!

A: Hi Diane, yes, these will fit as the size is basically identical to the 7506. I hope our CanSkins work for you and adequately refresh your cd570's! Please let us know how they fit. Andrew O. Bluestar Support Team

Q: 2. Will these fit Sony MDR-7509? Thanks

A: These were specifically designed for the 7506. We cannot confirm it would fit another model.

Q: 3. Is this headphone stereo? I assume it is due to type of plug, but just want to verify before purchasing it.

A: Yes - not to be a turd, but if you look at the photo it says so right there. It's a great pair of headphones - have had them for two years and no complaint!

Q: 4. Are the earpads replaceable?

A: Yes, the earpads on Sony MDR-7506 Headphones are replaceable.

Q: 5. Does this fit Sony WH-CH510 headphone?

A: These Bluestar CanSkins Earcup Covers are made specifically for the Sony MDR-7506 Headphones and may not work with the WH-CH510.

Q: 6. I saw some Sony headphones advertised as Hi-Res audio capable. Are these headphones capable of that?

A: In a word, no. They are not rated to exceed 20kHz in their upper frequency response. That doesn't mean they can't reproduce these frequencies in some capacity, it means they are not flat (however that is being measured) past 20kHz. In fact, these headphones have a significant drop off past 15Khz, but that does not equate to a more muffled or low-fi type of sound. You'd have to hear the difference between these and something like a Beyerdynamic DT880 to know what I mean. There is no loss of fidelity, but they are not rated up to 25 or 30kHz, which I would consider the minimum to be Hi-Res capable.I'm answering this in case it helps someone else out.

Q: 7. How do these compare to Garfield Softies?

A: The Bluestar earpads are made of a synthetic chamois material with neoprene inside while the material used for the Garfield Softies is velour-like rayon chenille. The Bluestars have a flat and smooth feel while the Garfields have a more textured feel and seem slightly thicker.

Q: 8. Is there a MDR-7506 model that comes with an uncoiled cable? I hate all that extra weight on my head.

A: The Sony MDR-7506 Headphones are only available with the attached coiled cable. As an alternative, the Senal SMH-1000-MK2 Professional Field and Studio Monitor Headphones (B&H # SESMH1000MKT) are close in design and have a removeable cable. The SMH-1000-MK2 include both straight and coiled cables, so you have the option of using either style. The Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Closed-Back Monitor Headphones (B&H # AUATHM40X) and Audio-Technica ATH-M30x Closed-Back Monitor Headphones (B&H # AUATHM30X) also have a removeable cable and are both packaged with straight and coiled cables as well.

Q: 9. Do these fit over the earpods that come with the 7506s or they replace them?

A: They fit over, great to extend the life of some not so bad earpads, if yours have change their original shape you may loose freq. Response. Shoud change them too

Q: 10. Can these Headphones be used with a Portable CD Player that is powered by (2) AA Rechargeable Batteries ?

A: Hi Mary Morrison, Yes, it will support a portable CD player. ~Ralph

Standard video kit.
These headphones have been an industry standard for years as they are longlasting and great sound. Only replacing mine as someone had away my other pair. The long cord allows for movement away from the camera without unplugging or pulling it over.

My sound engineer brother recommended these to me, stating he's used them for years and simply replaces the ear muffs! I am able to discern instruments in years-old recordings with fresh clarity. I love them and will suggest them to others. Thanks!

These have been my go-to headphones for years, but a couple of years ago I purchased another brand. And although they were a trustworthy brand-- I'm so happy to go back to old faithful. Dependable, good sound and comfortable. You can't go wrong with these,

If you want a good sound experience on a low budget. It's worth it. Of course, it really isn't durable. (its skin) but not that much.

Good clean sound at a reasonable price. The only draw back is they hold heat after extended use. Cord length seemed long until I used them.

I have been using these headphones for 30 years, and even though there are technically much higher end ones, I always return to these. The MDR-7506 are perfect for multiple applications, and don't really color the sound, so you can count on the accuracy of what you are hearing.

I primarily use them for ENG applications, but have also used them on A1 gigs on live events, and I have never been disappointed. The build quality is also great, and they are collapsible for storage.
