Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the 1/4 adapter screwable?

A: Yes the 1/4 adapter that ships with the 7506s has threads. The adapter fits snuggly over the 1/8 plug and locks in place by twisting / tightening the threaded section at the end of the assembly. The connection is secure. Sound quality and clarity remain excellent.

Q: 2. Will these fit Sony MDR V6 cans?

A: Yes, they will fit.

Q: 3. Will these fit Sony MDR-7509? Thanks

A: These were specifically designed for the 7506. We cannot confirm it would fit another model.

Q: 4. How do I shorten the coiled cord on the Sony Mdr 7506?

A: The Sony MDR-7506 has a permanently attached cable. Unfortunately not designed to be user replaced or serviced.

Q: 5. Can these Headphones be used with a Portable CD Player that is powered by (2) AA Rechargeable Batteries ?

A: Hi Mary Morrison, Yes, it will support a portable CD player. ~Ralph

Q: 6. How do these compare to Garfield Softies?

A: The Bluestar earpads are made of a synthetic chamois material with neoprene inside while the material used for the Garfield Softies is velour-like rayon chenille. The Bluestars have a flat and smooth feel while the Garfields have a more textured feel and seem slightly thicker.

Q: 7. I saw some Sony headphones advertised as Hi-Res audio capable. Are these headphones capable of that?

A: In a word, no. They are not rated to exceed 20kHz in their upper frequency response. That doesn't mean they can't reproduce these frequencies in some capacity, it means they are not flat (however that is being measured) past 20kHz. In fact, these headphones have a significant drop off past 15Khz, but that does not equate to a more muffled or low-fi type of sound. You'd have to hear the difference between these and something like a Beyerdynamic DT880 to know what I mean. There is no loss of fidelity, but they are not rated up to 25 or 30kHz, which I would consider the minimum to be Hi-Res capable.I'm answering this in case it helps someone else out.

Q: 8. Will these fit Sony MDR-CD570? (I know these are ancient HPs, but I love them!) Thank you!

A: Hi Diane, yes, these will fit as the size is basically identical to the 7506. I hope our CanSkins work for you and adequately refresh your cd570's! Please let us know how they fit. Andrew O. Bluestar Support Team

Q: 9. Does this fit Sony WH-CH510 headphone?

A: These Bluestar CanSkins Earcup Covers are made specifically for the Sony MDR-7506 Headphones and may not work with the WH-CH510.

Q: 10. what adapter should I buy for this to work with an Ipad mini?

A: You do not need to purchase anything. It comes with a 1/8 plug and a 1/4 adapter that you remove.

I'm a deposition videographer and I'd been using the 7506 since the beginning-wear and tear didn't stop them for 28 years, but it was time to replace them. Luckily, this exact model is still made and is still the gold standard for field audio mixing. Broke in the new pair the morning after they arrived. Best for this application by far.

This is the 2nd set of these I've had (the other pair evolved legs). Good, solid cans. They're accurate, lightweight, and comfy as hell!! I've used and seen them used for years by many professional touring audio engineers. And...no you can't borrow them; go get your own, you won't regret it.

Bought these because I am tired of buying new headphones every year. Heard that these can last 10 years, so I splurged on them. I just use them for listening to music, in my non-expert opinion, they sound great. They are also comfortable. I wore them throughout a 5 hour flight with no problem. I prefer the sheepskin ear pads, so I was glad I upgraded.

These headphones produce an amazing sound. it is quite different from your run-of-the-mill over-ear headphones and certainly different from any ear buds you've ever used. The sort of surround-sound effect that a lot of artists record with these days is amplified by the quality of these headphones. They are also very comfortable. the one thing I was most worried about in purchasing some new over-ear headphones was my ears getting too warm and uncomfortable, but I have yet to have that experience with these headphones. They do have quite a bit of plastic at a few of the joints, but they are very solidly built and most areas appear to be reinforced with some sort of metal. The cord is a bit heavy and does not detach, but is certainly long enough to move around any sort of studio without any trouble. I use them at my local college radio station and they are excellent! For the price, I don't think they can be beat.
