Q: 3. Relative to comparables, do these warm up your ears at room temperature or do they breathe?

Q: 9. I saw some Sony headphones advertised as Hi-Res audio capable. Are these headphones capable of that?

A: In a word, no. They are not rated to exceed 20kHz in their upper frequency response. That doesn't mean they can't reproduce these frequencies in some capacity, it means they are not flat (however that is being measured) past 20kHz. In fact, these headphones have a significant drop off past 15Khz, but that does not equate to a more muffled or low-fi type of sound. You'd have to hear the difference between these and something like a Beyerdynamic DT880 to know what I mean. There is no loss of fidelity, but they are not rated up to 25 or 30kHz, which I would consider the minimum to be Hi-Res capable.I'm answering this in case it helps someone else out.

Q: 10. Do these fit over the earpods that come with the 7506s or they replace them?

A: They fit over, great to extend the life of some not so bad earpads, if yours have change their original shape you may loose freq. Response. Shoud change them too

I've been using the MDR-7506 Headphones for the last 25+ years, I really love the way they sound. I use them for studio and live applications and they always deliver a clear sound with great definition. I never get tired of their sound.
During the last 4 months, I bought the 3 sets of headphones from another brand, the first time it was their 250 ohms version, then I tried the 80, and last the 32 ohms version. I returned all of them within a day of purchase, I guess I really wanted to have those headphones because they look cool and I think I gave them a fair chance (maybe because of their tight isolation of external noise/sound and great soft feel on my ears), but I ended up buying more MDR-7506 instead, maybe I'm an addict to their sound as I used to be to my old Yamaha NS-10 (I had 3 pairs of those).

But, since this is a review for the Sony 7506, all I can say is that I will stick to them. I've produced at least 15 albums and 2000+ jingles using them, maybe that's the reason why I love them so much.

I spent a bit more than I usually do on the cheaper Tascam studio headphones, and so far it has been worth it and even eye-opening. I am not an audiophile but, the quality, to my ear, is amazing. I also really like the coiled cord so that I am not wrangling it at my desk or at a shoot.

I edit my videos at my home office. I use speakers to monitor my sound. However, there are times that I need to keep it quiet as in late night edit sessions. So I got a pair of these headphones to do just that. After using them for a while, I am not using the speakers much anymore. I just use the speakers for a final sound check. The entire editing process is done through these headphones. I love the flat and accurate response. They are very comfortable too for long edit sessions.

This is my third pair of MDR headsets for use in a home recording studio, simply because they hold up in everyday use and are extremely reliable for mixing. Replacement ear pads are widely available from a number of vendors, and are easy to change.
I use these along with a good set of reference speakers and they seem to match the frequency curve quite nicely.
My brother, a retired LA radio announcer introduced me to these years ago and advised they are very widely used across the industry, in fact, preferred by many engineers and talent. The fact that Sony continues to make and sell them, speaks well for the product.
The best part is you don't have to shell out several hundred to get quality and accuracy.
I would easily recommend these to any content creator involved in monitoring or mixing. They are hard to beat.
