Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Relative to comparables, do these warm up your ears at room temperature or do they breathe?

A: The Sony MDR-7506 Headphones are closed-back headphones, so they will retain some heat naturally. However, with the default earcups they are not as large or tight of a fit as some other popular closed-back models.

Q: 2. Do these fit over the earpods that come with the 7506s or they replace them?

A: They fit over, great to extend the life of some not so bad earpads, if yours have change their original shape you may loose freq. Response. Shoud change them too

A: It may be fixable depending on where the issue is on the headphone. For a repair option, you could reach out to Pro Sound Services at 212.586.1033. However, the cost of the repair be close to the cost of a new pair anyway, in which case we recommend purchasing a new pair.

Headphones had adjustments that made for a comfortable fit. Padding inside gives it a 3+ hour average wear-time. Would recommend for video editing in noisy open office or online gaming.

Thanks!

I have zero complaints about these headphones.

I feel a little silly writing a headphone review given the fanaticism that headphone enthusiasts have for generating opinions, much to my benefit. If you do need the nitty gritty of a technical deep-dive, I defer to their expertise.

For me, I have experienced nothing but undisturbed pleasure using this product. That is not to say I put them on and started to hear color and taste sound, I am not suggesting aural nirvana, but very few products arrive and function so flawlessly. I plugged them in and forgot about them, what an uncommon joy these days.

I've had them a little under a month and have only used them 30-50h, so I can't really speak to durability or comfort under continuous use. Regardless, I would easily recommend this product to someone who needs something great without requiring an audiophile's opinion.

Standard video kit.
These headphones have been an industry standard for years as they are longlasting and great sound. Only replacing mine as someone had away my other pair. The long cord allows for movement away from the camera without unplugging or pulling it over.

My sound engineer brother recommended these to me, stating he's used them for years and simply replaces the ear muffs! I am able to discern instruments in years-old recordings with fresh clarity. I love them and will suggest them to others. Thanks!

Prior to this I had been using a hand-me-down pair of higher-end Sony headphones, but sadly one speaker finally gave out. Since pleased with a prior B&H purchase, I headed over to see what they had. Despite these being lower price-point than what I had been using, this hasn't felt like a downgrade at all! (And I bought mine on an open-box deal so they were especially budget-friendly.)

I'm no pro, but I do love listening to music & learning about music, so sound-quality is important to me. I think these are great, though perhaps someone with music-production experience could offer better comment.

Two notes, not really negative but just commenting: buy the deeper ear-pads (or add your own). I wear these for listening to music or podcasts, so I'm not wearing them 24/7 for work, but even so, if I have them on for a few hours while at my desk doing projects, I will say my ears hurt a bit. Not sure if this is affected by pressure-points since I wear glasses? However, my old headphones had good padding and I didn't notice the problem. When buying these new ones, I decided against spending more for the deeper cushions at the time, and I'm kind of regretting it.

Second comment, the adjusters to change where the pads sit over your ear, do slip a little. Every few on-offs I have to put them back to where they should be to sit correctly on my ear. This doesn't really bother me, but just commenting for those who might be particularly annoyed by this.

Overall: great product, good sound, well-made, easy to fold up into a compact shape (plus it comes with a felty storage pouch). I also love the coiled cord, which stretches if need-be but otherwise stays compact, not this endless cord going everywhere on your desk or workspace.

A little pricey if you don't need them, but if you're an earphone wearer (vs. earbud) I think you will be glad to invest in something that will hold up.

The headphones and carrying case are great. The headphones ship with a bag for a case. The additional ear muffs are a nice addition but the phones already ship with ones on.

I have been using these headphones for 30 years, and even though there are technically much higher end ones, I always return to these. The MDR-7506 are perfect for multiple applications, and don't really color the sound, so you can count on the accuracy of what you are hearing.

I primarily use them for ENG applications, but have also used them on A1 gigs on live events, and I have never been disappointed. The build quality is also great, and they are collapsible for storage.

If you want a good sound experience on a low budget. It's worth it. Of course, it really isn't durable. (its skin) but not that much.
