Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The camera have the timelapse option? Like GH4/FZ1000.

A: Yes, it does. You can shoot time-lapse sequences, and also create a video in either Full HD or 4K resolution in-camera if you want.

Q: 2. Is there a AC adapter available For the GX85 to replace the battery?

A: As I understand your question, you are asking if one can use the GX85 firm an AC adapter in place of the battery. I see a little trap door in the battery cover through which such adapter, if it exists, would probably be connected to the camera (with the battery removed). I don't know if such adapter exists and I recommend that you contact Panasonic for this. If battery capacity is an issue for you, I suggest you buy extra batteries with external chargers, so you can always have a full spare (or two) available. In addition, since GX85 allows the battery to be charged inside the camera, you can connect an external battery pack (like the one used to charge smart phones) to the camera while the camera is stored in its bag. That way your camera battery will be fully charged when you need to use the camera. I hope this helps.

Q: 3. This camera is now available at some retailers, any estimate on when will it be available here?

A: I apologize, but this type of request cannot be taken care of through this feature of our website. Please contact our Customer Service department by entering Live Chat, emailing directly to cs@a href= http://bhphoto.com, target= _blank bhphoto.com,/a or calling us toll-free at 800.221.5743.

Q: 4. Is in-camera focus stacking a feature on this camera?

A: Yes, it's one of the 4k photo modes. There's also focus bracketing, which takes multiple full-resolution images at different focus points.

Q: 5. How about I.S. with my Olympus lenses?

A: If your lenses have image stabilization, then the stabilization will work with the GX85.

Q: 6. does this one can fit Ricoh GRiii and easy to pull ? thanks

A: Yes, the Ricoh GR III Digital Camera would be compatible for use inside the MegaGear Ever Ready Leather Camera Case for Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70, DMC-LX10, DMC-ZS60, or DMC-ZS100 (Dark Brown).

Q: 7. Hi. Does the DMC-GX85 touchscreen turn inside out so as to protect it from scratches when not being used?

A: No it does not. It is adjustable up and down only. Thanks Roger Call

Q: 8. Would this case fit a Lumix LX5?

A: Yes, the LX5 should fit just fine. Its dimensions are very similar to the listed compatible cameras.

Q: 9. Can 4K video recorded on the GX85 be played back using the GX85 on FHD television? I realize that some conversion process would have to take place from 4K to 2K.

A: I'm sorry. I only use it for stills I love the size and enjoy the camera.

Q: 10. Will this case fit a DMC ZS80?

A: Yes, this MegaGear MG700 Everready case can also fit the Panasonic DC-ZS80.

I had been looking for a more compact camera to act as the b cam for my GH4 (the GH4 is small but I wouldn't call it compact). The GX85 totally fit the bill! I've been using it handheld and the IBIS does a much better job with smooth handheld camera work than just about every optically image stabilized lens I've used. The pans are smooth and you don't get that jerky motion so coming in stabilized lenses. Combined with one of the Dual IS compatible lenses and you have IMO the BEST image stabilization available.

I really love this little camera, especially for the price! It looks a bit like a point and shoot, but don't let looks fool you! I got this with the kit lens (but only because they didn't have the black silver version without lens) and I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of the kit lens as well. The lens does not do super well in low light/ high ISO situations, but other than that it is surprisingly sharp for what it is. This camera/ lens combination is extremely well suited for street photography as it is very compact (the lens is very flat for a zoom) and super quiet. If you set it on electronic shutter it doesn't make any sound at all but even with mechanical shutter it is definitely silent enough for candid street or weddings (or anywhere where you need to be quiet) I already got a bunch of other lenses for this camera, and with high quality lenses this camera is really getting close to top level. Super sharp and even fantastic bokeh with certain lenses. With lenses that have a wide aperture, it even starts to perform pretty good in low light situations. Of course, getting into dark situations is pushing a micro 4/3 to its limits, so if you plan to do a lot of that, maybe look at investing a bit more (maybe its bigger brother the GH5?). But again, with the right lenses, even that can be done with this camera. I will actually travel to the desert soon and I am going to see if I can even pull off star photography with the f1.7 prime lenses I got for it. I think it will do just fine.

I bought the GX85 body from B&H and the 30mm prime. Had the 14-140 zoom. I believe this is the perfect lens combo for 99% of all shooting scenarios. Optical stabilization works well. My first touch focus and my first M43. To be honest, the auto focus is so good it renders the touch focus almost unnecessary. The M43 lenses are so light and compact yet generate top notch results. The only somewhat negative aspect of the GX85 oddly enough is the main reason I purchased the camera. I wanted a small travel camera yet after handling it for a while I kinda miss the larger traditional layout. In retrospect I probably should have purchased the G85. I find myself searching and changing the position of the camera in my hand to find the most comfortable and most useable option. Just when I start to get frustrated I remember the price difference between the GX85 and G85, the comparable still performance and the small bag I need to carry the extra lens and all the accessories. Then I come to the realization that I have a small powerful inexpensive camera which can shoot some really nice photos, good 4K video with a small footprint. Did I mention inexpensive? You are not going to find a camera body at this price point which will out perform the GX85. Period.

I am impressed by the features packed in such a compact body especially the 5 axis image stabilization that works really well in the videos. The image quality is really good. My Nikon D5600 DSLR might have slightly better image quality but the portability and features makes me want to use this more. The only downside is that the battery life could have been better and they should have provided a separate charger. I am not a fan of in-camera battery charging. But you can find a generic one on ebay for less than 10$ so not really a big issue.
