The beige Core 4166 Slim Omni Flex Earset Mic, 110mm Boom with 1/8" Mini Jack from DPA combines the sound of the 4066 omnidirectional capsule and Core amplifier in a lightweight and flexible one-ear earset. It can be used when miking needs to be fast, easy, and where the person wearing the microphone won't feel the presence of it such as in conference, speech, and active live performance applications.

The Core 4166 gets a 14 dB increase in dynamic range than the Legacy version and is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably. It easily adjusts to fit any ear size and head shape while at the same time, it mounts securely and is hardly visible. By rotating the boom and the ear hook, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right ear. In addition, the connector splits the cable from the microphone boom allowing you to swap broken cables and/or wireless connectors quickly. Finally, it includes three windscreens, a clothing clip, ID rings, and a cover.

Q: 2. I'm looking to save space vertically. (from the mount, upwards) Is this the same size vertically as the D4 DUO?

Q: 5. How do you know what to connect where? The 3 ring side or the 2 ring side into the mic or camera?

A: There are two cables included with the Deity Microphones V-Mic D4 Mini Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone. One is 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS and the other is 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRRS. The TRS connector has two rings and the TRRS connector has three rings. The TRS connectors should be used to connect to the mic output and also to connect to a camera's mic input or to the input on a recorder. The TRRS connector is for use with a mobile device and can be used with adapters to enable compatibility for connection to iOS or Android devices like iPhones, iPads, and other smartphones and tablets.

Q: 10. Would this work on the Sennheiser ME2?

A: Hi Timm,I believe it will work, although our official recommendation based on testing is the following:a href= http://mymic.rycote.com/products/lavalier-solutions/lavalier-windjammer/black-lavalier-windjammer/ target= _blank http://mymic.rycote.com/products/lavalier-solutions/lavalier-windjammer/black-lavalier-windjammer//aThere is a slight difference in capsule diameter and length, but the 4080 Mini WJ should cover everything as intended. Please note that you probably won't be able to use the supplied clip with the ME 2 if you use this solution.

This is a great value. I used it for the first time this week on my GH6 and it performed brilliantly. Good sound, very directional, super lightweight.

It offers very good sound quality and low self-noise for its price. It also has RFI protection (tested) and an extra microphone input, which is great. Because it is possible to take sound from two channels and record in stereo. It is a very useful feature, especially if you are using a wireless or lavalier microphone. I think it should be in every camera bag.

Nothing prepared me for how good this thing is. It will never be able to compete with a good condenser mic, but if you're into unlocking new recording opportunities, this is the one.

I'll give you two examples that my most expensive lav and hypercardoid's can't do.. regardless of how clise they are to your subject:
1) Your subject in a LOUD cafe (voices audibly louder than your own voice! you don't have cafe owner permission to record your willing)
2) Following a running person with unpredictable movements outside (boom pole, xlr cables, audio recorder, trust me this is an absolute nightmare)

This mic can handle those two situations with ease... and for that it's worth so much more than it's asking price.

I'll let you figure out which recorder to pair it with.

This Deity mic works great. It's small, compact and shielded so you won't get any noise interference if you use the input with a Wireless Go. I use it on my A7III atop my Ronin RSC 2 when I need to capture audio. I run the Rode Wireless Go II receiver into the input so I can get clean audio off the lav from my talent when doing a walk and talk. With the D4 I can also capture ambient sound to mix with the talent's track. I like that the D4 separates the audio so I have the D4 on one track and the Rode on the other, makes for a clean simple workflow that doesn't require a separate sound guy.

I've done some initial tests and this little mic seems to work well. I like that the cable comes out from the side of the mic as I can look through the EVF without the cable in the way.

Love this mic. There are a bunch of similar mini camera mics available. But what separates this one from the others is the additional input jack located on the mic. Giving me 2 inputs into the camera is huge (Deity mic and what ever I plug into it). This allows me to use the Deity mic as an improved camera mic, but also add a second mic like a wireless or boom. And the tracks stay separate so you can adjust them individually in post. That's an incredible feature. For instance, when shooting b-roll you can have the Deity picking up ambient sounds as a camera mounted mic ,while attaching a wireless to a subject. And then have both signals enter your camera through the 3.5mm cable. Love that Sound quality is also good, especially for the price.
