The beige d:fine Core 4188 Slim Directional Flex Headset Mic with 120mm Boom and MicroDot Connector from DPA combines the sound of the d:fine 4088 directional capsule and Core amplifier in a lightweight and flexible two-ear headset that offers accurate, highly intelligible speech and plenty of headroom for loud vocals. The microphone's electret-condenser capsule provides a crisp, natural sound while its cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the wearer, picking up less background sound and helping to control feedback issues on loud stages where sound reinforcement gear is used.

The flexible design is quickly and easily taken on and off and provides a fit so light and comfortable that presenters and performers will barely notice it during conference, speech, and active live performance applications. The headset is ergonomically engineered to easily adjust and fit any ear size and head shape, while, at the same time, it mounts securely and is hardly visible. By rotating the boom and the ear hook, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right ear. In addition, the connector splits the cable from the microphone boom allowing you to swap out broken cables and/or microphone booms easily. The 4188 includes a makeup cover, foam windscreen, and a pop screen.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this adapter be used to connect to a dpa microphone for saxophone?

A: The Tentacle Sync DPA Microdot to 3.5mm TRS Microphone Adapter is specified for use with DPA lapel microphones. Although other DPA microphones may have compatible microdot connections, the Tentacle Sync would not be able to provide the power output they require to work properly.

Q: 2. Will the Shure WH20 Headset Mic with XLR Connector for Balanced Mic Output B&H # SHWH20XLR MFR # WH20XLR work with a Fender Passport 150 Pro?

A: It will work. You can plug it directly to one of the mic inputs. I would recommend buying a longer cable or even a wireless system to use it with so you have the freedom to walk around and move with it.

Q: 3. Is the XLR connection a Mini XLR ?

A: The Shure WH20 headset microphone is available with three different types of connectors. B&H# SHWH20QTR has a 1/4" phone connector, B&H# SHWH20XLR has a standard 3-pin male XLR connector, and B&H# SHWH20TQG has a 4-pin female mini XLR connector. The mini XLR version is intended for use with a wireless bodypack transmitter while the XLR and 1/4" connectors are for use with PA system or recorder.

Q: 4. Most demonstrations of the Rode VideoMic Me emphasize audio for closeups--either selfies or interviews. How will the mic work at greater distance from the sound source--10 feet, for example?

A: Just like any other mic, John. Camera mounted mics, boom mics...any mics sound better when you are closer and worse when you are further away. The Rode video mic does have an interference tube to help block out sound from the side, which does help. It's WAY better than the little pinhole mic in the phone. When I get further away, I use a lavalier mic. I do have a long cord, but I prefer to plug the lavalier into a small Zoom audio recorder, which fits in the pocket. Then I snyc up the sound in post. Otherwise, I keep my subject close up.

Q: 5. can you use this with a Tascam DR-40?

A: The Shure WH-20 Headset Mic is directly compatible with the XLR mic inputs on the Tascam DR-40.

Q: 6. How long is the cable between the 1/4" phone plug and the headset?

A: The cable for the Shure WH20 Headset Mic is 3.9' (1.2 m) long.

Q: 7. Could you use this Tentacle adapter to connect the Deity W.Lav Pro and a Sennheiser G3/G4 transmitter?

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync DPA Microdot to 3.5mm TRS Microphone Adapter should work since it has a locking connector. As a another option, you can use the Deity Microphones DA35 Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter (B&H # DEDA35).

Q: 8. How would this perform as a headset mic for football/basketball playcallers? Is the isolation pretty good?

A: This product works well for this application, providing decent off-axis rejection of unwanted ambient sound. Keeping your gain settings a little lower on the bodypack will also help reduce ambient bleed. In particularly loud environments and in sports applications, it may also be helpful to mute or turn off your bodypack between announcements or calls to avoid unwanted speech or noise transmissions between uses.

Q: 9. I have a behringer q1202 usb mixer. Will this headset mic work with the XLR connector plugged in directly?

A: Yes, the WH20 with the XLR connector will work with your Q1202. It is a dynamic mic, so you do not use Phantom Power.

Q: 10. XLR connector is male or female?

A: The XLR connection on this headset is Male.
