The black Core 4288 Directional Flex Earset Mic, 120mm Boom with 1/8" Mini Jack from DPA combines the sound of the 4088 directional capsule and Core amplifier in a lightweight and flexible one-ear earset. It can be used when miking needs to be fast and easy, and where the person wearing the microphone will barely feel the presence of it; such as in conference, speech, and active live performance applications.

The cardioid polar-patterned Core 4288 offers a 4 dB increase in dynamic range and a 14 dB decrease in THD (total harmonic distortion) over the Legacy version and is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably. It easily adjusts to fit any ear size and head shape, while at the same time, it mounts securely and is hardly visible. By rotating the boom and the ear hook, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right ear. In addition, the connector splits the cable from the microphone boom allowing you to swap broken cables and/or transmitter connectors quickly. Finally, it includes a makeup cover, four windscreens, and a pop screen.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I understand that the boom itself has 2 connectors (3/8" & 5/8"). However, what is the thread for mounting the clamp assembly itself? is the "short tube" that is pictured "faded out" at the bottom included? How does this mount onto anything?

A: The manufacturer listing for the K&M 21431 Mini Boom Arm only mentions "wing nut" clamping. The vertical pole pictured in this product image is not included with the boom arm. Given that this arm is meant for mounting onto mic stands, which standardly have a 5/8" thread, it can be presumed that the wing nut hardware included likely adapts to 5/8" threads in some manner.

Q: 2. How much weight can the avenger d600 counterweight hook hold?

A: Everything about the d600 is well engineered and made out of quality materials. Although I don't use the hook, I do beat the heck out of the arm with a heavy strobe head and a 48 by 48 softbox and it shows no sign of strain. This is a top quality product and this 30 year pro loves it.

Q: 3. Is this strong enough to support an overhead shot setup for a DSLR?

A: The Matthews Mini Matth Boom - Black supports up to 8.8 lb. If your camera and lens combined are under that it is fine. Note, you will need a counter weight and a stand that supports the weight of the boom and camera combined.

Q: 4. Is there such a thing as this but maybe 6" shorter? It's just a little too much for my bag and the often tight areas I shoot in.

A: The shortest boom that we have to offer is the Westcott Mini Boom Arm & Weight Bag which comes in at 31 to 57" and supports 11lbs. Westcott Mini Boom Arm & Weight Bag BH #WE9940 • MFR #9940 bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1538317-REG/westcott_9940_mini_boom_arm_and.html

Q: 5. What is the diameter at its widest point?

A: The widest diameter on the tubing 1 5/16”, then 1 3/16” and the smallest is 1”. The widest part of the boom is the mounting base at 5 3/16”.

Q: 6. Will this hold a Profoto B1?

A: Yes, easily!

Q: 7. Can the stud be removed? or do I need an adapter to attach a tripod head?

A: NO, the stud really cant be removed. It's basically a C-Stand without the base.

Q: 8. What's the collapsed length? (Minimum length) It only lists full extension.

A: About 46 fully collapsed

Q: 9. Is it compatible with Avenger Roller Stand 12 with Folding Base?

A: Yes, the Avenger D600 Mini Boom (Chrome-plated) may be used with the Avenger Roller Stand 12 with Folding Base (Chrome-plated/Black, 3.9'); however, I would recommend to also purchase the Avenger E200 Stand Adapter, B&H # AVE200, to allow you to use the boom arm directly over the center riser instead of the offset 5/8" pin.

Q: 10. How can I attach a manfrotto mhxpro-3w head to the boom arm? I'm using it for overhead shots, and I'm wondering if this setup will work. Thank you.

A: You would need an adapter. The counterweight system gives a lot of flexibility on extension and height.

This is a nice solid boom. We use them with small as well as larger heads.

Great boom, its really heavy duty and has an incredible load capacity at 15 pounds. I use it with my AB1600 and beauty dish. It's useful for band promos and especially for the dark eyes effect when the strobe needs to be over the band.

This mini boom goes so well with my A2033F 40 Century Stand! It completes my studio. It's so well built and very heavy duty! I would buy this product over and over again if I could!

Great for outdoors or indoors. This is NOT a mini boom, but definitely heavy duty. Works very well with Paul C Buff lights and big light modifyers. You really get more than what you pay for with this.

I only use boom arms on C-stands, because I feel they're more stable, not sure if I'd bother with a regular light stand. It's built as sturdy and solid as my Matthew's C-stand, and hasn't failed no matter what I throw at it.

I bought this to go with an alien bee 13' heavy duty stand but it is NOT recommended. I really needed the avenger c stand. It is the perfect match. It's heavy duty and works well. You won't be disappointed. It is heavy but not overly so. I move it around fairly easily. I would advise taking time to get familiar with it. Know what the knobs loosen and tighten. It is advised that the turn knuckle be on the right hand side.
