Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this monitor have a rasterizer to view Audio meter and video waveform?

A: This monitor does have an Audio level display from either the HDMI or SDI inputs. It also has Picture-in-Picture, Image flip, False color, Peaking, Zebras and Screen Markers. However it does not have a waveform. For a similar Marshall monitor that does have a waveform you could check out the V-LCD70MD-3G. Or you can look in to the Elvid 7 FieldVision Pro Monitor with Scopes.

Q: 2. Description says SDI and HDMI output but the images only show a labelled SDI port.. where's it hiding?

A: The image of the Marshall Electronics CV348 Compact 3G-SDI/HDMI POV Camera is not the version with both outputs. Rest assured, this model does have both outputs.

Q: 3. How do you convert the controller for fiber use?

A: So you need to convert both the sdi signal and data signal to a fiber signal. I prefer using a Thor 1-Channel Mini HD-SDI Single-Mode Fiber Optic Extender Kit for each Marshall Camera, but that is just me. It mux’s both signals to one fiber and demux’s at the other end. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Q: 4. Is sunshade V-H70MD compatible with this monitor?

A: Yes, you can use the Marshall V-H70MD sun hood with this monitor.

Q: 5. Is it compatible with Sony NP-F style batteries?

A: Yes it is. The Marshall Electronics 7" 1024 x 600 Camera-Top Monitor with Sony Battery Mount is compatible with NP-F style batteries.

Q: 6. Is the software Windows only, if so, will there be MacOS software in the future?

A: The software for the Marshall Electronics CV504 Full HD Micro POV Camera is Windows-based, and it would be at the discretion of the manufacturer to release a macOS version.

Q: 7. Looks like this could be used with lots of other small cameras/camcorders because of the 1/4"-20 camera screw. Is that assumption true?

A: You are correct!

Q: 8. is there a mounting fixture so i could hang the monitor below a shelf?

A: All four side of the monitor have 1/4 screw holes for mounting. I would then think of using a articulating arm such as this Marshall Electronics Articulating Locking Arm (11 ). How you attach it to the shelf depends. I would first go with this 16x9 Inc. Cine Lock Quick Release Mounting Device. Not only will lock the monitor in place, you can easily break down for transport if necessary. If the Cine Lock is not right for you, you might like a clamp like this Manfrotto Nano Clamp with 3/8 -20 to 1/4 -20 Screw Adapter. Have fun. :-)

Q: 9. is this a fisheye lens?

A: I wont be able to check this lens for another few weeks because the cameras are installed on a model to record laboratory testing. The 3.7 mm lens that comes with the camera has a lot of fisheye. A flat surface in the upper part of the camera view looks bent. The 2.8 mm lens has just a very minor amount of fisheye. If you do not point it out to someone most people would not even notice. I used an 8 ft flat steel beam and set the camera distance so that the beam took up 90% of the screen width.

Q: 10. Glass elements in a pinhole lens? What does that even mean?

A: The Marshall lenses have glass elements for consistent low distortion video. The front element of this lens is about 3 mm in diameter, easily hidden from view. The lens is 4" in length.
