The TVC-24 Versa Mk2 from Really Right Stuff is a lightweight, mid-range Series 2 carbon fiber tripod designed for use in both the field and studio.

Constructed from Really Right Stuff's patented carbon fiber weave, the TVC-24 weighs in at an impressive 3.3 lb and can safely support up to 40 lb. Its 4-section leg design allows the tripod to extend to a maximum height of 49.4" and lower down to a minimum working height of just 3.4".

Quick set-up and break-down is facilitated by easy-to-use twist locks that require just a quarter rotation to unlock and re-lock each leg section. This design also helps to maintain the tripod's slim folded silhouette. Additionally, when traveling with or storing the tripod, the entire support can fold down to just 19.1" in length, small enough to travel or hike with.

Each leg is attached to the tripod's collar via an offset leg joint that helps to evenly distribute heavy loads and maintain the tripod's rigidity. The joints and collar itself are constructed of lightweight anodized aluminum which, aside from lending inherent strength to the tripod, also provides it with natural wear and corrosion resistance. Each one of the three leg joints also feature a ratcheting angle stop that automatically locks into place as the legs are folded downward into "standard" position.

The TVC-24's feet are a unique teardrop shape, which prevents the leg sections from touching the ground at even the lowest height settings and the most unusual angles. Their rubber exterior provides a non-slip grip on nearly any surface and can be used both indoors and outdoors without concern. For users wishing to change the native rubber feet to metal "all-terrain" spikes, a set of metal spikes are available separately.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The TFC-34 has different load capacities depending on the leg positions. I that also the case for the TVC-34?

A: Unlike the Really Right Stuff TFC-34 MK2 Series3 Ultralight Carbon Fiber Tripod (58.3"), B&H # RETFC34M2V2, the Really Right Stuff TVC-34 Versa Series 3 Mk2 Carbon Fiber Tripod does not have specified load capacities for each leg section. It's important to note that the stability and payload capacity may decrease when the thinner section is fully extended. The environment and surface the tripod is being used in may also affect the tripod. The overall payload for the TVC-34 is up to 50lb.

Q: 2. Would this be tall enough for someone 61? Id go for the L but like being able to put it in carry-on luggage.

A: I am just over 6 feet and find the 34L perfect for me, but unless your carry-on is huge, it likely won't fit as the tripod alone (no head) is every bit of 24 inches long. You'd be better off carrying it separately, or pairing it with a true travel tripod.

Q: 3. Will the Really Right Stuff TA-3(https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1300996-REG/really_right_stuff_ta_3_lb_hk_versa_series_3_leveling.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1300996-REG/really_right_stuff_ta_3_lb_hk_versa_series_3_leveling.html/a) fit on this?

A: The Really Right Stuff TA-3 Leveling Base with Platform and Hook B&H # RETA3LBHK will fit on any RRS Versa 3 tripod such as this the Really Right Stuff TVC-34L Versa Series 3 Mk2 Carbon Fiber Tripod B&H # RETVC34LMK2.

Q: 4. Does anyone know what the length is for the last leg extension? The one closest to the ground. Im trying to determine the tripod height if that leg extension is left in a retracted state, and if it would be a perfect tripod for me in that state. I am 4.3 in height.

A: The length of the last leg tube is 18 3/8", but I don't think that isn't the most accurate way to measure its height since the legs are at an angle. I measured the tripod's height with only the top two sections extended and it measures 51 5/8" (4' 3", what a coincidence).

Q: 5. The specs for this tripod says the Closed Length is 21.1" / 53.6 cm. Is this correct? I want to put in my carry on luggage bag.

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff TVC-34 Versa Series 3 Mk2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is 21.1 inches when folded/collapsed to its smallest size and without a head attached.

Q: 6. What is the difference in the Versa Series 2, 3, and 4? What about in comparison to the Platform Ascend?

A: The difference is based on the focal length of your longest lens. Series 2 is for lenses up to 400mm, Series 3 is for up to 800mm, and Series 4 would be recommended for a professional cine camera. The Ascend is a lightweight travel tripod recommended for lenses up to 200mm.

Q: 7. Could I put a center column and arca Swiss cube on this?

A: You can use the arca Swiss cube with our with out a center column. The column for the Really Right Stuff TVC-24 Versa Series MK2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is, https://bhpho.to/3uwFOu3 .

Q: 8. What are differences between MK1 and MK2?

A: twist locks now only require a quarter turn...making it faster to lock/unlock the legs.

Q: 9. How big is the platform? Will Acra swiss Z1g+ ball head fit in?

A: You would be better off mounting the Arca Swiss Z1g+ on a a series 3 tripod https://bhpho.to/2Xqt9Gm.

Q: 10. what's the difference between tfc and tvc?

A: TVC models offer more flexibility for drop in ball heads and center columns where TC are fixed.

I have the TVC-33 as my main tripod, but I wanted tomething smaller and lighter for traveling. So I picked up the TVC-24 and I paired it with the BH-30 Ball Head and it's a thing of beauty. The build quality is supperb and it is very light weight. It easiliy fits on the side of camera bag. It's esp convient when traveling on airplanes.

This is a great lightweight tripod but it is still extremly stable .

I originally ordered the 24L but sent it back. The 24L is perfect for astrophotography given its height. But my general use for the tripod is landscape and nighttime cityscapes which require a lot of hiking and walking and often a plane ride to get to the destination. The 24L was just too big and cumbersome to manage on a plane and walking around with a backpack. The standard TVC 24 is a little short for me, maybe 3-4 inches (I'm 6'3"). But I will take it more places and therefore use it more often. Build, stability craftsmanship are phenomenal. So far, I used it with a D850 and a 16-35 f4, 70-200 E, and a 200-500 f 5.6. RRS is an exceptional company. Expensive, but very happy with my decision.

I was hesitant about spending so much money on a set of tripod legs, but as soon as I took them out of the box I was impressed. Quality all around. Light weight, holds my Canon 5D MIV and EOS 100-400mm lens like it is a feather.
As I get older, I need the assistance of a tripod to get the sharpest images. I also want to get back to the old days of  throwing my camera gear in the back of the car and explore and photograph the countryside, near and far. With this tripod, I can do just that.

I am a true fan of Really Right Stuff. I am also glad that B&H now provides their gear.
