Accurately position your camera with the 4.3" tall GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head from Benro, which has three independent geared movements that move with precision by turning the knob in slow increments. To quickly position a camera without the gears, simply turn the inner wheel counter-clockwise, which releases the clutch, to move the camera into the desired angle.

The 1.6 lb Arca-type compatible head is constructed from a durable magnesium alloy, and its carbon steel and bronze gears provide smooth operation. With the head's load capacity of 13.2 lb, it can hold a mirrorless to medium format camera with ease, and the three bubble levels ensure accurate leveling of the camera in any axis.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will theKirk QRLB-T Universal Quick Release Tall L-Bracket fit this?

A: Yes the Kirk QRLB-T Universal Quick Release Tall L-Bracket is compatible with the Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head.

Q: 2. I want non padded pouch for travel, when head is detached from tripod. Which one is large enough to fit Benro? I am looking at Tenba Neoprene one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1374639-REG/tenba_636_353_tools_soft_lens_pouch.html or Lenscoat https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/547496-REG/LensCoat_LCLPLWBK_LensPouch_Large_Wide_Black.html. What can you recommend?

A: The two you were looking into will not fit the head. I'd recommend a 15 inch or 19 inch lens wrap for it.

Q: 3. Does this use the same mounting plate as the ronin rs2?

A: DJI RS 2 has both upper and lower quick-release plates. The lower quick-release plate is compatible with the Manfrotto standard and can be mounted onto Manfrotto video tripod heads. The upper quick-release plate is compatible with the Arca-Swiss standard and can be compatible with Arca-Swiss tripods after disassembly. (Note: The Arca-Swiss and Manfrotto quick-release plates cannot be mounted onto the DJI RS 2 tripod.)

Q: 4. Can you suggest a budget friendly tripod that won't move when set up to go with this head? Heavy is ok.

A: Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod B&H # MAMT055XPRO3

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the Peak Design Dual Plate?

A: Yes, the Benro GD3WH 3-way geared head uses an arca-swiss style clamp and accepts the Peak Design dual plate, which employs a unique dual-system arca-swiss and Manfrotto RC2 style design.

Q: 6. Does anyone know if this head can be mounted on a Cosmo Mini 500 copy stand perhaps with an adapter; want to scan negs digitally and want to be able to level the camera?

A: While B&H does not carry the Cosmo Mini 500 Copy Stand you list above, it appears from the pictures on the manufacturer's website the screw on the copy stand is a 1/4"-20 male threaded screw. The Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head has a 3/8"-16 female tripod socket on the base of the head, so you would need an adapter such as the Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing, B&H # OB1039, to connect the Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head to the Cosmo Mini 500 Copy Stand.

Q: 7. Does the Peak Design standard plate fit the Benro?

A: Yes, the Peak Design PL-S-3 Standard Plate is compatible with the Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head.

Q: 8. Where have you been all my life? Hoping that this will be a more affordable option vs the Cube. Is it?

A: Yes, it is much more affordable than the Arca Swiss Cubes.

Q: 9. I have a battery grip for my Canon 6D. Is anyone aware of usable L-brackets that would work with this head? Thanks.

A: Mostly any L bracket will work with this head, as long as it is Arca compatible.

Q: 10. What is the included allen wrench for?

A: The allen key is for the small allen screws at the base of the qr plate, they are stops so the plate doesn't slide out but some users prefer not to use the screws.

I bought this after trying to use standard ballheads and well they just never cut it when using larger heavier telephoto lenses that even when attached appropriately, just never had the accurate and sturdy construction that are necessary for inclemental weather and topographical situations. I will be putting it to further tests in colder weather to see how well the gears respond in freezing or below temperatures this winter. The last thing anybody needs is an iced tripod with a non responsive ballhead or geared head.

I only recently received the Benro geared head, but my inaugural outing with it fulfilled my purpose in purchasing it. I have tried a number of ball heads and all of them eventually slip a little. That gets real frustrating when I am shooting, as I would have to guess where to lock it down to have it settle where I intended. The geared head worked just the way I hoped it would, allowing me to set the head where I wanted it by disengaging the clutch and then doing a fine adjustment with the knobs. I also appreciated the way the know on the Arca Swiss compatible quick release works. To remove the camera from the head you have to not only unscrew the knob but also pull it a bit. This will prevent me from inadvertently release the camera from the tripod. (Been there; done that.)

I am a landscape photographer. Previously I had been using a heavy duty top-of-the-line ball head. A ball head is very difficult to adjust because it moves in two planes at the same time. It may be quick, but it is very difficult to get the frame where you want it. This gear head did the trick. It is well constructed and solid. I'll never use a ball head again. The Benro GD3WH gear head allows me to frame an image exactly the way I want it, with ease and no fuss. I am a satisfied customer!

I take macro pictures of jewelry and need to focus on a very small
detail, so the geared head is super helpful for micro movements. I
love not having to adjust the column manually, this is so much easier
and faster! I feel like the quick release could be a little easier, but overall I am very happy.

Extremely well made, extremely small movements, fine tuning of subject is quick.

Can't beat the quality for the price. Solid construction, everything you need for a 35mm camera. I wouldn't advise putting anything larger on it though. The range of motion is a little constricted if you want to tilt right, but it's rare to thing to need.

Once I got used to the stiffness of the knobs that allow the coarse movement of the various axes, I found I really appreciated the geared control, especially for a telephoto lens aimed at the moon, for example. For such a situation, this head is way easier to use than a normal ball-head.

I decided to try this in my studio after getting frustrated with making small adjustments with my ball head camera mount. Perfect for shooting headshots and product photography.

The price was one of the appealing factors for my case. I do architectural and real estate, and I was comparing other geared heads like Manfrotto 410.

I heard Benro is more durable. And I took the chance, ordered the used one from B&H.

So far I'm quite happy about this. The precision adjustment works really well for horizontal camera positions. It's great and saving me tons of time for perfect adjustments of my larger cameras like canon 5D III or Nikon D610.

Only one complain is the vertical positions - one of the gears become useless when you bring the camera down for vertical positions. I need to come up with another solution like a tripod that goes vertical.

This is my first gear head and it is great for lining up the shot.
