The Impact Lowboy is a heavy duty light but I paid low price for a stand that will hold heavier lights like my Aputure LS 300x. I'm probably going to have to invest in some caster wheels because the setup is very heavy.

I bought to pair with an Aputure Nova which is still on back order. But the stand is really nice with a combo head that will handle anything I can mount on it. The only place I can see cost savings are in the plastic handles, but in an owner operator kit that's not an issue. Perhaps on a grip truck that might be a problem.

These stands are great and heavy duty. I’d say the main difference I noticed between these stands and a Matthew’s Hollywood Low Boy, is that these are a little bit taller at their lowest working height. About 4 1/2 inches taller, I believe. Good weight, sturdy combo head, low to the ground legs with a solid footprint, and, of course, the Rocky Mountain leg is always a great addition. Amazing purchase! I am very happy!

Huge footprint, but very low as a butterfly stand. Heavy and strong.
Best for the price.

I wouldn't recommend for a grip truck because the plastic knobs would be a longevity issue. But for my personal studio it's perfect. Good value, very heavy and stabile. In other words: it's what you need for a heavy light. I am using it for my Aputure Nova 300.

I purchased these primarily for mounting my skater dolly rails to.
They are solid and sturdy and are very convenient with the addition of the combo head.

I had been looking for something that sat in the sweet spot between c-stand and aluminum light stand for the longest time. My light stands are amazing and I love them to death, but as I start getting bigger and better lighting solutions I have been quickly rubbing up against their weight limits. As for c-stands, personally I don't really like them. They are a versatile tool to be sure, but when you are one man-banding it and are trying to pack gear into a smaller vehicle (like mine) they can be awkward and cumbersome.

That is why I'm loving the Impact Lowboy. It's as heavy duty as a c-stand but has the design aesthetic and functionality of a regular light stand. The first thing you notice about it is that it is heavy. I don't say that as a bad thing. It gives me confidence that my expensive lighting gear isn't going to cause it to buckle. The specs say it has a load capacity of 66lbs. A fully kitted out Ursa Mini Pro doesn't weigh that much. I don't think there is much this stand couldn't handle.

Because it functions just like an average light stand there is no learning curve on set up. You know how to use it straight out of the box. What's different about it though is the leveling leg, which is such a simple idea, but so brilliant and so well executed. No matter how uneven the terrain, I can have a level support system. It's tripod functionality for lighting solutions.

The only thing I wish were different with the Lowboy is that the feet on the base do not have grip to them. I would have appreciated some little rubberized gripping action to add more security on smoother surfaces. But if that is the only thing I can complain about I've already won with this stand.

All and all I'm extremely happy with this and I think I will steadily be replacing all of my light stands with these.

*slow clap, high five*
