The Telefunken M62 is a small-diaphragm hypercardioid FET condenser microphone designed to deliver fast transient response and accurate, yet musical frequency reproduction for musicians and recording engineers in home, project, and commercial studios. The M60 FET body features a custom-wound transformer, an active FET transistor, and a Class-A discrete amplifier. The included TK62 capsule utilizes a 6-micron, gold-sputtered membrane and exhibits a hypercardioid polar pattern.
The M62's 130 dB maximum SPL, 20 Hz to 31.5 kHz frequency response, low self-noise, and fast transient response make it ideal for critical capture of a wide variety of instruments and room ambience. The supplied shockmount isolates the microphone from vibrations that would otherwise be transferred through the mic stand. A windscreen is included for reduction of noise from gusts of air. The M62 includes an XLR cable and a zipper carrying case.

The M62 package includes one M60 amplifier paired with a TK62 hypercardioid capsule, which features a 6-micron gold-sputtered membrane measuring 15mm in diameter. It offers surprisingly full low end and a quick, accurate transient response. The TK62 is flat in response from 150 Hz to 3 kHz with a dip at 6 kHz and a smooth, airy presence peak at 8 kHz. This tightened polar pattern is great for use on cymbals, percussion, and as a stereo pair for live performance recording.
The M62's incredibly quick transient response captures nuances and subtleties with impressive precision and clarity. This results in an extremely detailed sonic image with definition and presence, perfectly suited for the complex character of stringed instruments and percussive sources.
Utilizing a proprietary circuit topology, this re-interpretation of the classic FET mic amplifier produces exceptional transient response and SPL handling capabilities. Carefully selected and tested components are hand-plugged into gold-plated circuit board traces to provide an ultra-clean true Class-A discrete amplifier with a frequency response of ±2 dB from 20 Hz to 50 kHz. The output is matched with a custom American-made transformer that offers an especially low self-noise and a typical THD+N of 0.015% or better, making it ideal for critical recording applications.
The M60 FET amplifier body is finished in a durable, lightly textured black powder coat adorned with the historic TELEFUNKEN diamond badge. The microphone's XLR connector shell complements the look with a matte black nickel-plated finish engraved with the model and serial number. The TK62 capsule features a bright nickel-plated enclosure with a fine gold mesh pattern.
The M62 system ships complete with one SGMC-5R XLR cable with a right-angle female connector, an M 761 elastic shockmount, and a foam windscreen, all packed in a ZC61 zipper carrying case.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this mic use phantom power?
A: Yes, the Audio-Technica PRO 37 is a condenser microphone and requires phantom power (48v).
Q: 2. Is this mike usable as on-camera microphone?
A: No it is not usable on-camera. You would hear every bump and noise. For video you would use a stable boom mic stand. Also if you are using this where there is a breeze you would need a wind cover.
Q: 3. Self noise of this mic, acording to Telefunken is 5db- This is an early model?
A: The Telefunken M60 was first announced in late 2014, and then released in the early months of 2015. The self noise is equal to or less then 5dBA.
Q: 4. International warranty ? User in singapore.
A: The limited manufacturer's warranty provided with the Rycote OM-08 does not include any stipulations regarding country of purchase; the warranty terms provide coverage for all purchases from an authorized reseller (such as B&H).
Q: 5. Can I plug this into a 3.5mm mini input on my DSLR and camcorder with a Kopul LMT-100 adapter on the end?. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/885062-REG/kopul_lmt_100_lo_to_hi_impedance.html
A: This mic can not be directly plugged into the 3.5mm input of a camera since they require 48v to operate. If you did want to connect this to a camera, you would a mixer with an xlr input and phantom power such as this BH #SASRPAX1.
Q: 6. Is this safe for exterior use (moisture resistant, etc.) ?
A: The Rycote SC-08 Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone can be used outdoors, but the mic itself is not moisture-resistant. However, the Rycote SGM foam windscreen that is included with the mic does provide some protection from moisture, and the mic's internal circuitry is corrosion-resistant.
Q: 7. how to switch on /off switches as fingure tips can’t reach them
A: Hello, I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the switches. I suggest looking into a rubber thimble used for turning pages, as those can help increase friction and move the switches to the desired positions.
Q: 8. Does it require phantom power?
A: Yes. The Audio-Technica AT4053b Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone BH #AUAT4053B requires 48V phantom power.
Q: 9. Hope my letter finds you well! I would like to purchase the M60 Master Set by Telefunken with the 3 different capsules, (especially need the TK61) but I am also looking for something what can be attached to the end of the microfons looks like a translucent sphere but have no idea whats that for and how do you call that.. Have a picture with it but can’t attach to this mail. Can you please help me. Appreciate your time!
A: Hello. These are great mics, an excellent choice for recording in general. As for the sphere you're referring to, we're not sure as to what item you mean. They sound like they could be types of windscreens, in which case we have items like these available BH #THPF842S. If you have more specific information regarding the sphere, please give us a chat or call at 800-606-6969 and we can attempt to assist you.
Q: 10. How is the noise compared to a boom mic?
A: A mic like the AT4053b would be recommended for indoor dialog capture. The pickup pattern is wider than a traditional shotgun, however for indoor were there are many reflective surfaces, this is a benefit as compared to a more directional mic.
