Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Using the usb c or the lightning connection the signal that will receive the phone will stereo ?? I understand using the 3.5 trs conection the signal to the cellphone will mono.

A: Yes. It does provide stereo, or in reality a dual mono signal of Left and Right. Make sure to switch the SmartRig to stereo mode.

Q: 2. Does anyone know if it is possible to send a Line Level signal into this unit?

A: Absolutely YES. It has XLR & 1/4" combo and 3.5mm inputs, so for line-level choose the 1/4" or 3.5mm inputs and use the level controls to dial in the level you desire.

Q: 3. Hello is really possible to record stereo? I have tested SmartRig+ with 3,5 connector and adapter 3,5 to lightning. It is possible to record only mono mixed from two channels with this setup. Thanks for reply.

A: Yes, the SmartRig+ allows you to toggle between mono and stereo modes using a switch that is located between the two XLR-1/4" combo input jacks. The switch is labeled with "M" and "S" to indicate mono and stereo operation.

Q: 4. Can this be used with the Cisco Webex Meetings app on iOS? Will it output and input audio at the same time?

A: According to Saramonic's marketing team, the SmartRig+ is not recognized by the Cisco Webex Meetings app on iOS. The iPhone does recognize it when used to connect your external microphone, but once the Webex app is loaded, it is no longer recognized. While the SmartRig+ is not compatible with the Webex app, it does work with Zoom.

Q: 5. Hello, when you plug the microphone into your iPhone, it asks if the device is a microphone. I replied no but not sure if this is correct. Does anyone know ?

A: This device is a microphone.

Q: 6. Can this device be powered by USB C when connected to a PC, or is a 9v battery always required?

A: The Saramonic SmartRig+UC Two-Channel Audio Interface cannot be USB Bus-powered; it requires a 9v battery for operation.

Q: 7. Will this work with the Cisco Webex Meetings app on iOS?

A: According to Saramonic's marketing team, the SmartRig+ is not recognized by the Cisco Webex Meetings app on iOS. The iPhone does recognize the SmartRig+ when it is used to connect your external microphone, but once the Webex app is loaded, it is no longer recognized. Although the SmartRig+ is not compatible with the Webex app, it does work with Zoom.

Q: 8. Will this work with a Rode go system?

A: This microphone is designed to connect directly to the lightning port of your iPhone or iOS device. It will also connect to the RODE Wireless GO transmitter. NOTE: Multi-Section, Multi-Use Cable: The cable is made of two sections: a first section with the lav mic at one end and a 3.5mm TRS female connector at the other, and a second section with a 3.5mm TRS male connector at one end and an MFi Certified Lightning connector at the other. This two-section cable facilitates multiple purpose. Use the first section of the cable to route the mic into iOS devices that still offer conventional 3.5mm jacks. Conversely, the second section can be used to connect either the lav mic or any audio device with a 3.5mm TRS output (including wireless receivers and media players) to your iPhone or iPad.

Q: 9. Is the 1/4" input TRS for long cable run from the mixer?

A: No, the 1/4" input is TS for instruments. You can go out from a mixer 1/4" into a direct box than XLR into the SmartRig+Di for best results, or even TRS to XLR cables and then mind the input gain if you do not have a direct box.

Q: 10. What's the difference between the lightning vs the 3.5mm ?

A: The SmartRig+ with TRRS can be used with smartphones and cameras with 3.5mm inputs, well the lightning version: SmartRig+Di is made for iPhones and iPads with a Lightning input.
