Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Can this be used with Android devices such as Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy Tab S2?
A: Yes it can be use.
Q: 2. Will this work with a Zoom H1 output. Into a OnePlus One?
A: Probably - but no guarantees when it comes to Android based products.
Q: 3. will this work with a Camera as well? Particularly a Sony Mirrorless microphone input?
A: This cable is specifically made to take a typical TRS 3.5mm mic and convert it to connect to a TRRS mic input on a mobile device. It would not be appropriate to connect this adapter cable to a camera, and I cannot guarantee that it will work for that purpose.
Q: 4. Is this the cable that comes with the rode video micro? I lost that one and I think its a different cable. I need it for my sony a6500 not my phone.
A: It appears that the SC2 cable is included with the video micro. The SC7 3.5mm TRS to TRRS is a Patch Cable from Rode and is designed to allow you to connect the output from Rode's VideoMicro to a TRRS device, such as an iPhone, iPad, or a smartphone.
Q: 5. Since it's TRS will it work with a low impedance microphone?
A: The Saramonic SR-UC201 3.5mm TRS Female to 3.5mm TRRS Male Adapter Cable for Smartphones should accept a low-impedance TRS microphone signal.
Q: 6. Can I use this to hook up an external mic to an iphone 8?
A: Yes you can.
Q: 7. How to connect Rode VIDEOMICPRO-R to my iPhone XS so I can use it as an external audio recorder? Thanks.
A: Use this Rode SC-4 adapter, as well as the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter, BH #APLAADAP, to connect a Rode VideoMic Pro-R to an iPhone.XS.
Q: 8. ok thenim not gonna be able to record from my smartphone then because ive tried with a trs to trs cable and what i get is so quiet you can barely hear it after its recorded.?
A: This cable is designed to take the audio output from a saramonic wireless receiver and send it to the input of a smartphone.
Q: 9. Will non-powered mics work on my phone with this?
A: Yes, as long as the microphones, take plugin power.
Q: 10. To use this cable with a modern iphone, you must use the apple lightning adapter (no 3.5mm jack in an iphone) - is this a barrier? I am getting no sound when recording video with an iphone, and since this is supposed to work with iOS, I assume the adapter is the issue? If so, are we expected to use iphones from 8 years ago for this to work?
A: The SC7 cable has 3.5mm TRS and 3.5mm TRRS connectors. The TRRS connector is compatible for use with mobile devices and can be combined with the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H # APLAADAP) to connect with iPhones that use a Lightning port. For iPads and Android devices that have a USB-C port, the SC7 can be combined with the Apple USB Type-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H # APMU7E2AMA). When the SC7 was originally introduced, Apple was still using a 3.5mm TRRS jack on the iPhone and the cable does work with Android devices that use TRRS. If you want to use one cable to connect directly from a 3.5mm TRS output to a Lightning port, you can use the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Audio Cable (B&H # APLMADAP) or Comica Audio CVM-D-SPX(MI) 3.5mm TRS Male to Lightning Output Cable for Audio to iPhone (B&H # COCVMDSPXMI). Both will allow recording from an external microphone or wireless mic system.
