This 16.5-stop, 67mm QuartzLine Solid ND Filter from PolarPro is an ND filter with a 32,000x filter factor that provides a 16.5-stop exposure reduction. Its 5.0 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is constructed from quartz glass for enhanced durability. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, 16 layers of anti-reflection coatings offer scratch protection to the filter substrate while promoting clarity and color fidelity. The coatings associated with the PolarPro 67mm ND100K QuartzLine Solid Neutral Density 5.0 Filter also result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

The quartz glass is set within a brass filter ring with side knurlings. Together, the brass material and knurlings prevent jamming and provide additional strength, as well as a textured grip when mounting or removing this filter from a lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the combo ND/PL also help w/ saturation/contrast as well or just glare reduction?

A: When using the variable circular polarizing section of the PolarPro 82mm ND64 QuartzLine Solid Neutral Density 1.8 and Circular Polarizer Filter, one can increase saturation and contrast in a photo, as well as glare reduction.

Q: 2. Quartzline is also 99. What's the difference between this and that? Wouldn't a combo be better?

A: The PolarPro 82mm ND64 QuartzLine Solid Neutral Density 1.8 and Circular Polarizer Filter (6-Stop) is a combination of neutral density and polarization in one filter. This provides 6-stops of exposure reduction, while the PolarPro 82mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter (B&H # POCP82Q) just provides polarization with 1.3 stops of exposure reduction. The ND and Circular Polarizer filter may makes sense for those that need an all-in-one solution. There are some that will only require a polarizer filter if they're working with a matte box or built-in ND filters.

Q: 3. Can this filter be used with Sony 24-70 GMII with lenshood on?

A: Yes, this will work with the Sony 24-70mm GMII lens hood. The hood features a "window" to access the polarizing ring.

Q: 4. Curious if this ND/PL stacked with a Tiffen Black ProMist on a 24mm lens will cause vinette problems (@f/1.4 thru f/4)? I'm thinking it likely will and might then go for non PL version as it looks slightly thinner? Cheers if anyone's already test this out?

A: If you use this on a full-frame camera, you would be likely to have some vignetting. On a crop-sensor camera, it would be less likely.

Q: 5. I have a Tamron 100-400 f4.5-6.3. Is an ND64 filter too high of stops for it? What should I take into consideration when looking for ND/Polarizer filters?

A: It's hard to say how many stops is too much because the contextual information (i.e. the kind of exposure/photograph you are trying to create) has significant influence on how many stops you might need. Technically you can use any amount of stops you want and likely achieve a similar result, but you will need to adjust your ISO, aperture, and/or shutter speed/bulb exposure times to compensate for the light loss. The ND64 QuartzLine ND and CP combo is great because it allows you to the option of not stacking a simple ND and CPL, thereby shooting through two pieces of glass instead of three. This is better for image clarity and lowers the chance of reflection/refraction issues between filters and glare.

Q: 6. Hello! Does this filter have front threads (to attach a lens cap)? Thanks!

A: Yes. 77mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters or a lens cap.

Q: 7. Can I stack this filter with PolarPro 82mm Peter McKinnon Signature Edition II Variable ND 1.8 to 2.7 Filter (6 to 9-Stop) and have a great result?

A: The PolarPro 82mm ND1000 QuartzLine Solid Neutral Density 3.0 and Circular Polarizer Filter (10-Stop) has front 82mm filter threads so you coudl stack filters. It is never a good idea to stack a variable ND filter with another ND filter. This will reduce image quality.

Q: 8. Can you stack PolarPro ND filters?

A: The PolarPro 82mm ND1000 QuartzLine Solid Neutral Density 3.0 and Circular Polarizer Filter (10-Stop) have front filter threads, so you could stack them with other filters.

Q: 9. Does this filter work on the Canon RF 28-70 f2 lens? The lens has a 95mm filter thread but its coarse I believe

A: The PolarPro 95mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter is compatible with the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2 L USM Lens.

Q: 10. Lens cap fits?

A: The PolarPro 82mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter has a front 82mm filter thread. So, it can use many front lens caps. These are some of them: https://bhpho.to/3KX6QmZ.
