The 130 x 130mm Cokin NUANCES X-Pro Series ND Filter has a 1000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction and is designed for use with a Cokin X-Pro Series Filter Holder. Its 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

Cokin NUANCES filters are constructed from tempered SCHOTT B270 glass and feature nano-metallic alloy film coatings on both sides of the filter surface to attenuate infrared light while maintaining true color fidelity, even when stacked with other Cokin NUANCES or NUANCES Extreme filters.

For use with a Cokin X-Pro Series Filter Holder, a light-blocking gasket is included. This gasket forms a seal that is intended to prevent stray light, which could have unwanted effects on exposure, from coming in between the filter and the lens behind it.

Q: 1. Is this filter adaptable to a Nikon f/2.8 24-70mm VR ED and if so, how do I adapt a 40.5mm filter to the lens?

A: You can use step down rings but it would present too many problems. It will be much better for you to get the 82mm filter instead. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/871605-REG/B_W_65_1073163_82mm_3_0_ND_110.html If that is too much here's a cheaper alternative https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1109457-REG/tiffen_82nd30_82mm_axent_neutral_density.html

Q: 2. The picture they show with this ND filter looks terrible with the filter, is that a mistake or does this filter really do that to your shot?

A: i do not know what you refer to when you say the picture they show with this ND filter looks terrible with the filter, as i did not see any reference picture. all any ND filter does is cut down the light entering the camera lens, just like sunglasses do for our eyes. except this filter knocks down the light by a factor of 10 camera stops. this means that to get the proper exposure for any given aperture, the shutter has to be open for a much longer time to compensate for the filter. in fact, the shutter needs to be open approximately 1,000 times as long. for instance, if without the filter, a correct exposure is metered to be f/8 (or any aperture) at 1/250th a second, then, using the same aperture of f/8, the exposure would need to 4 seconds long. as the filter is neutral, there is no adverse effect on the color of the photograph. the only things that might effect picture quality are any movements that take place during the exposure, or any camera movements. when using this filter, there are few if any times that a tripod shouldn't be used. this filter is usually selected for the purpose of showing the effect of movement during the exposure like clouds or rushing water. it is a specialized and filter and not appropriate for general photography.

Q: 3. Hi,- What is the thickness of the filter's frame? And without counting the threads?- Is it easy to clean?- Does it have threads on both sides?Thank you!!

A: Pablo,The thickness of the filter frame:with threads = 9/32 inch (.28125 inch)without threads = 11/64 inch (.17188 inch)Yes, it is easy to clean.Yes, the filter has threads on both sides. Female on the front of the filter and Male on the back side of the filter.I hope this helps.Best regards,David Rudd

Q: 4. Will this filter be safe for photographing a solar eclipse?

A: To capture the solar eclipse with this lens you will have to have the shutter open for say 30 seconds but then maybe the eclipse will move a bit causing a blur so you will have to open the aperture more. I think it will work. I have it and its great.

Q: 5. Hello, could you please confirm whether this filter will definitely 100% work with the olympus OM-D E-M10 mark ii kit lens? Thanks in advance.

A: For the kit lens I see on sale with the OM-D E-M10 MkII, yes. I use this filter on an older generation Olympus 14-42mm zoom. Check the label on the front of your lens: it should say ?37. This means the lens accepts 37mm filters such as this one.

Q: 6. Why is the 6 stop density more expensive than the 10 stop?

A: More popular items tend to be priced higher than non popular items. It's basically were the manufacturer priced the filter according to demand.

Q: 7. hi, just wondering if this or any other 40.5mm ND filters are able to be used with the Nikon 1 J5 10-30mm kit lens??

A: Yes, I am using it on my lenses for my Nikon 1 1V with no problems as it is a standard lens filter threads.

Q: 8. How does this ND filter work with ultra wide lens (10-18mm) or a wide angle (18-35mm)?

A: It works perfectly fine when used with a 10-18mm lens. No issues here.

Q: 9. Hi, Did you notice color casting or shifting using this filter on long exposures (e.g. 20-30 )?I wonder if there's any difference in THAT regard with the MRC version?(B+W - 77mm 3.0 ND MRC 110M Filter - which is much more expensive..)Thank you!!

A: Hey Pablo, sorry for the delay in replying, I've been away. Yes, I found I need to cool it by about 700 degrees..Peter

Q: 10. Can this be safely used for photographing a Solar Eclipse?

A: I would recommend 17 stops or more for solar eclipse, so I wouldn't recommend the K&F Concept Nano-X Series ND32000 ND Filter (100 x 100mm, 15-Stop) for solar eclipse.
