This is a manual adapter, so lens functions that rely on electronic communication with the camera body (autofocus, AE metering, image stabilization, etc.) will be disrupted.

Set your exposure manually or meter using your camera's Aperture Priority (stop-down) mode.

If your lens does not have a manual aperture control ring, it will stop down to its smallest f/stop by default.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this for rangefinder ltm lenses or the soviet slr lens that have a 39 thread?

A: According to our sources, all LTM M39/L39-mount lenses can be use with this adapter.

Q: 2. Ok... I have the 35mm 1.8 g (Nikkor). Will this adapter work and will it remain a 35mm on a mirrorless camera? Also, will my other FX lenses (AI, Non AI, D and E series) will work on a Fuji - will the allow me to use the lenses on manual focusing. In other words which adapter to use for the lenses I've mentioned? Quite confusing. Manufacturers nomenclature does not help. Thank you a lot. Have a nice day.

A: If you are using this adapter for full frame glass - like your 35/1.8 then you are effectively using them as crop sensor lenses. i.e. your Nikkor 35 becomes 50mm on the Fuji sensor. To use your 35/1.8 as a 35 on the Fuji you need one of the metabones speedbooster or lensturbo adapters that correct the image (reduce) to make full use of the glass. This adapter is only useful in that it allows you to mount G (gelded- without aperture ring) on a Fuji - the ring allows some control of the aperture only,

Q: 3. Other Fotodiox M42 adapters specify Type1 or Type 2 depending on if the the lens has an aperture pin or if that pin depresses all the way down (e.g. see Q&A on FotodioX M42-FXRF-V2). Is that the same for this adapter? Thanks!

A: The Fotodiox M42 has no coupling or manual way to control the 42mm lens. The aperture and focus must be controled by you.

Q: 4. Can you adjust the aperture on this converter or is it locked in on a certain number?

A: There is no aperture adjustment on this adapter, if your Nikon lens has an aperture ring, then it can be adjusted that way. If your lens has no aperture ring, then the aperture will be closed all the way down to f/22 or whatever the smallest aperture is, unless the adapter has an aperture control ring.

Q: 5. This adapter can be used on fujifilm xt3?

A: Yes it can. This adapter works on Fujifilm X-mount cameras, which is the kind or mount the X-T3 has.

Q: 6. Will this adapter clear the tab on the Fuji screw mount lenses ?

A: Sorry, this one is not compatible with the Fujifilm lenses that have the tab.

Q: 7. Hello, is this adaptador compatible with a Pentacon 50mm f/ 1.8 to mounted on a Fuji XT-1? Or should I use the other type (1) of adaptador?

A: This adapter can work with a Pentacon 50mm f/1.8 lens being that it has an M42 mount.

Q: 8. Thanks for the previous answer but that was not what I was asking. I was asking about compatibility. Fotodiox makes a distinction between Type 1 and Type 2. The answer on the other adapter to a question about compatibility was this: "Possibly, If the aperture pin of your M42-mount lens depresses all the way down, your lens is considered type 2 and this V2 lens mount adapter is compatible with it. However, if your M42-mount lens has no aperture pin, tabs, or levers; or if it has an aperture pin that does not fully depress (small tabs stick out), it is considered a type-1 lens and is compatible with V1 adapters (available separately)." Do I need to worry about that distinction with this adapter?

A: No you don't need to worry about that distinction with this adapter. The adapter is listed as compatible with both M42-mount types.

Q: 9. Can I use Nikon AI lenses with this Adapter?

A: If you set the aperture to it's smallest ( 32 on some older lenses ) you can then use the aperture ring on the adaptor but it's better to use the aperture ring on the lens, the adaptor doesn't have definitive stops for aperture it's purely just a smooth trasition.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with m42 smc takumar f1.8 to fuji x camera?

A: This mount will take any m42 screw mount lens such as you mentioned and mount it to a Fujifilm X mount camera. Happy shooting.
