Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I focus to infinity with this adapter with Sony A7?

A: I have had no problems with Minolta lenses not focussing to infinity using this adapter, but each lens is slightly different so just check with each lens before shooting.

Q: 2. Will this adapter allow Minolta MD mount lenses to be used on the SONY Alpha 5100a camera body (SONY E mount)?

A: Yes. You have to manually set aperture and focus though.

Q: 3. Why am I unable to fire the shutter on a Fuji X-Pro2 with this adapter and a 50mm Minolta MC macro lens?

A: The camera doesn't recognize that the adapter is mounted as there are no electronic contacts. First, enable the "shoot without lens’ option in the menu under ‘BUTTON/DIAL SETTING’ sub-menu in the setup menu.

Q: 4. Does focus peeking (on a a7iii) work with this adapter?

A: When using the FotodioX Adapter for Minolta MD/MC/SR Rokkor Mount Lens to Sony NEX Mount Camera adapter, focus peaking will work in the Sony A7III body.

Q: 5. Why am I unable to fire the shutter on my X-Pro2 with this adapter and a 50mm Minolta MC macro lens?

A: The camera doesn't recognize that the adapter is mounted as there are no electronic contacts. First, enable the "shoot without lens’ option in the menu under ‘BUTTON/DIAL SETTING’ sub-menu in the setup menu.

Q: 6. Does the adapter multiply the effective focal length of Minolta lenses by a factor of 1.5?

A: I have a 135mm prime MD mounted on a X-T1, compared to the Fujifilm XF18-135 at 135mm there is a crop or effective zoom, say maybe *looking* like a 150mm equivalent using the 135 prime MD mount. If one is out and about shooting this isn't a big difference at all. I shoot using a multitude of bodies with differing sensor sizes, crop factor only really figures in my shooting when I am either shooting very far away, with a long 400mm or longer lens, I want all the effective zoom I can get or very close (macro) again, I want the image as big as possible on the sensor. For landscape and people, portraits it's not really a factor. The X-T1 works well for me for that stuff. To answer your question though, using the MD adapter converts a *full frame* (35mm format) lens to a sensor that is less than full frame size so it will result in the image being focused on an area larger than the sensor, but that works out to something less than 1.5,more like 1.14 using the FotodioX MD adapter. Hope this helps.

Q: 7. Does it work with a Sony A7sii?

A: Yes it does

Q: 8. I noticed on the overview for the B&H code: FOPCECAMMM it states that it is not recommended for the Canon 5D mkiii. However this is not stated in the overview for this item, so should I understand that this item IS compatible with the 5D mkiii ?

A: Hi, Clive D: Responding to your question. I shoot with a Canon EOS T5i and use this Fotodiox Pro MD-EOS with my MC Promaster 24mm without any concerns. Great everyday lens, thanks to this lens adaptor. Hope this helps. Best Wishes, Michele H.

Q: 9. the 1.4x is to adjust for moving the length of the lense correct? i see a lot of huff saying the adaptor is adding a crop factor to their lenses but i thought it was an adjustment. i do believe there will be some light loss as well. is that correct?

A: The 1.4x lens is to achieve infinity focus and there is a 1.4x crop factor on a full frame camera. You will lose about 1-2 stops of light.

Q: 10. Does this work with analgic Minolta SR lenses to Sony E mount?

A: The FotodioX Mount Adapter for Minolta SR/MD/MC-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera does work with Minolta SR mount lenses
