I love the size, not much bigger than a CD case. I use it with my 5K iMac. It sits on the base and blends right in. Great price.

I bought this as a way to access and copy photos that were archived on CD and DVD. It has worked perfectly, even with the newer technology of my M1 Mac mini w/ MacOS Ventura.

Not by any means my first SuperDrive but my first external unit. Runs quiet, connecting cable is long enough and accepts and ejects discs with authority. Judging by my personal experience with SuperDrives they run near flawlessly even with heavy use. My first one in a Mac G4 Tower (Quicksilver) still works as does the one in my 2006 17" MacBook Pro Those two are semi retired but I have one in my 2012 15" MacBook Pro which has burned hundreds of discs reliably. The new one is for my 2015 27" iMac. If you need to have an optical drive and don't need to read or write Blue Ray, this is your best choice. There are less expensive ones out there and I've tried a few and they wear out quickly and are finicky about which brand of blanks you feed it and sometimes even reject a factory replicated disc.

I got this quickly, plugged it right in,
and it immediately played both audio
and video discs. The only downsides
are the price and the fact that the output
is USB A rather than the USB C that my new
Mac laptop uses -

This my second Apple SuperDrive. My wife wasn't very nice to the first one and it finally died. Plug and Play. No complaints.

This drive works as well as if it had been built into the iMac. It allows us to manage all of our old school media and devices.

I'm delighted with the Apple USB SuperDrive. My newer Mac doesn't have a DVD slot, but the SuperDrive makes it really easy to add. Once added, the drive restores the ability to read or write DVDs again.
