Q: 1. I have a Tascam DR-701R that provide phantom power, so still I need piut the Battery in the AT831B?

A: It is battery or phantom. So you can run it with the phantom power on your DR-701, or if you would like to save some battery power on your DR-701, you can run the AT831B on battery power.

Q: 2. Does this mic come in a wireless version?

A: This mic is not available in a wireless version.

Q: 3. I'm looking for a microphone to capture dancer audio on a stage (steps, claps, tambourine, etc.). I'm also hoping to pick up the audience applause/cheering with the same microphone. I'm hoping I could tape this down on the edge of the stage to achieve that. Has anyone done this? What were your results? What kind of microphone would work better? Thanks!

A: This mic will work for you but be aware that the sound coming form the front of the mic will be much louder than from behind it since it is a cartioid microphone.

Q: 4. Can I connect this mic through a Rode AI-1 audio interface to my PC using the XLR connector from the included power module?

A: Yes, the Audio-Technica AT831b Cardioid Condenser Lavalier Microphone can be connected to an audio interface such as the Rode AI-1 using an XLR cable.

Q: 5. Is this mic picking up footsteps on a theater stage?

Q: 6. Can I connect the AT 831B ( with the power supply module ) in an acoustic guitar amp with a XLR input and already providing a phantom power of 16 V?

A: The AT831B can operate on phantom power ranging from 9-52 volts and also using battery. There would be no issue connecting to a device that provides 16V phantom via XLR.

Q: 7. I'm looking for the best possible lavalier microphone for professional videography. I currently have an NTG3 Rode Shotgun Mic, so I'd want to match that quality with a lavalier that can be used on a ursa mini 4k with XLR inputs, wireless to the lavalier location. I'd appreciate any suggestions for budget and best for price, what do the experts think?

A: I have a rode NTG2 and this mic. I just used it on a documentary I filmed with a Sony NX5U and it sounded great and I got several comments on the audio quality. I have had mu eye on the URSA Mini, what are your thoughts on the URSA, would you recommend it?

Q: 8. Does this microphone have GSM or cell phone interference? I have the AT803b, and I get interference from GSM cell phones near the microphone.

A: I haven't noticed cell interference, but it does have a ton of handling noise. Even the faintest fabric rustle is pretty noticeable.

Q: 9. Do I need an adapter to use this microphone with my Sennheiser EG-2 transmiter?

A: Yes. This 4-pin connector style (ch) is not compatible with Sennheiser transmitter bodypacks.

Q: 10. Is this wireless to the receiver/amp?

A: It is not a wireless microphone at all.
