Q: 2. Do I need a pre-amp setup to connect the AT Pro35 mic to a laptop? Is it plug and play?

A: Yes, Audio-Technica Pro 35 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone requires a preamp or mixer to provide phantom power for the capsule to work.

Q: 4. Will this mic work on a DSLR?

A: Yes. I use it with a DSLR as well as a basic consumer level camcorder. Youll need a 3.5mm to 3-Pin XLR Female adapter cable though.

Q: 5. Does this record in both mono or stereo

A: The Audio-Technica ATR3350XiS records in dual-mono. So it is a mono microphone but you will be able to hear it in both headphones when monitoring and recording.

A: It is a 48volt phantom powered mic. Whether or not it can work on 12 volts can be answered by reading the spec on the AT web site.

Q: 9. Are the ear pads just for show or are they monitor speakers/headphones?

A: This is not a headphone and you cannot monitor sound with it .The pads are there for comfort.

Q: 10. I'm looking for a microphone to capture dancer audio on a stage (steps, claps, tambourine, etc.). I'm also hoping to pick up the audience applause/cheering with the same microphone. I'm hoping I could tape this down on the edge of the stage to achieve that. Has anyone done this? What were your results? What kind of microphone would work better? Thanks!

A: This mic will work for you but be aware that the sound coming form the front of the mic will be much louder than from behind it since it is a cartioid microphone.
