Great for presentation, conference, board meeting, court proceeding, or teleconferencing applications, the Audix ADX18 is a 22" miniature gooseneck cardioid condenser microphone designed to accurately capture speech from a comfortable distance. It features a uniformly controlled cardioid polar pattern that minimizes unwanted ambient noise and feedback in a room or on stage, as well as a wide frequency response of 40 Hz to 18 kHz for a clear and natural sound with fast transient response.

The ADX18 is equipped with integrated preamp circuitry built into its base and requires 18 to 52V phantom power to operate. If necessary, the capsule is easily changed by screwing it on and off, allowing you to swap the included cardioid capsule with a hypercardioid capsule (available separately) if a more tightly focused audio pattern is desired. The mic can be permanently mounted on a podium or conference table using the included flange table mount, or simply used on a conventional mic stand.

Made of machined aluminum, the ADX18 is constructed with two flexible gooseneck sections which allow for precise positioning of the capsule in front of the speaker's mouth. The microphone includes a foam windscreen to help minimize pops, plosives, and breath noises.

Q: 3. Can this be paired with itself for stereo input to say, Zoom H6 recorder, for dSLR TRS minijack input? Need to record high end performances without post-processing.

A: This is a mono microphone that requires phantom power. It will not work directly with a miniplug without a power supply.

Q: 4. What is the difference between this M1250B microphone and the M1255B microphone?

A: The Audix M1250B and M1255B are effectively the same however the M1255B is more sensitive for distant miking purposes, whereas the M1250B is intended for close mic positions.

Q: 5. We have had two M1250B's for four years. Purchased to record the choir. Recently, the Music Director wants to amplify the choir a bit during Praise and Worship songs. However, the M1250Bs pick up a bunch of drums which sit 12 feet from the left mic and the drums are actually more predominate than the choir. Request advice? gev at Kirkmont Church

A: Move the drum kit if possible. If these mics are not ceiling mounted - you might try a few of these panels: ClearSonic S5-2 - 66 x 48 x 1.5 Double Section SORBER Baffle (Light Grey) with Handle. a href= http://bhpho.to/1AeFdcw target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1AeFdcw/a

Q: 6. How well will this mic work with the lid closed?

A: The mic should work well. It's more a matter of where the mic is positioned and how it sounds. If you are using it to mic a piano, you can try moving the mic to a different position until you achieve the desired sound.

Q: 7. It is not clear to me whether this mic can be made to switch on, or whether the push button has to be held the whole time. I need a mic that turns on and stays active. Question mark?

A: When you push the button it stays on

Q: 8. Why does this picture appear to have two separate Mics in it. Does one fit inside the other? No real explanation on site...

A: This product shot is for one gooseneck microphone. The product image was provide by the manufacturer.

Q: 9. How tight an angle can the gooseneck hold. Many pics show about 45 degrees. Will it hold 90 degrees? 135?

A: You should be able to adjust the gooseneck to hold at any angle. The clutch assembly for the Audix MB5050 MicroBoom System 50" Gooseneck Condenser Microphone allows for total control over the angle, rotation and position of the carbon fiber rod.

Q: 10. would this work good on an alto saxophone?

A: Yes, you can use the Audix ADX20I Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone (B&H# AUADX20I ) on an alto saxophone. This is just the mic only and it has a mini-XLR output connector which requires a power supply. You may want to purchase the same mic packaged with the compatible phantom power supply, which is the Audix ADX20IP Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone with APS910 Power Supply (B&H# AUADX20IP). The power supply has a mini-XLR input connector for the mic and a standard XLR output connector to connect to your amp, PA or recorder.

These microphones are incredible. Very well priced especially when you buy the kit. I did lots of research and these were the best value of the highest quality. They shipped very quickly and came with everything I needed to plug and start using. Would recommend to any church or venue needing a high quality option without breaking the bank.

We have a large ballroom space in which the sound system was badly installed years ago. Not much headroom and the speakers are in the ceiling. None of my techs could decent sound off of a podium because they were using SM57s as podium mics. I ordered these and speeches sound much better. The system still needs work, but these are a vast improvement.

I didn't see how I could change the title but it needed to be changed. This mic is great.

This fixed a problem that the user was having. They had to leave their desk to have an off the record meeting, so I introduced this mic with the on off button and has change their world.

On a side note this mic has a usb connector on the back of it and you can power it that way and skip the two AA batteries. This should be listed in the description this is a selling point.

I’ve been using these bad boys all summer for small to medium sized gigs, and I have to say I’m impressed. Really open and balanced sound with minimal bleed. Genre permitting, I crank them through the PA for thunderous fills no problem, minimal EQ required and never chasing down feedback. They’re predictable, work with every genre, and can manage to squeeze their way into the most cramped setups. I don’t usually write reviews, but if you’re a live guy and need to fill up their mic locker, do not scoff at the brand or be skeptical at the price. Buy 6, put your company logo over ‘em, and call it a day. I can’t say how they fair under the critical ear of the studio environment, but in the live world I’ve gotten comments all summer such as “wow, those Shure/Earthworks sound great”.
