Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use the USB-C port for power instead of the micro-USB one? Micro-USB is flimsy junk, totally unsuitable for power.

A: Yes. USB Type-C port supports video and power (from the video source) over the same cable.

Q: 2. Is there a way to connect these to the HDMI output of a Nikon Z9, for live viewing through the glasses?

A: The Epson Moverio BT-40S Smart Glasses with Intelligent Touch Controller can not intake a video signal from the Nikon Z9 for live viewing.

Q: 3. To clarify my earlier question: Can you power the glasses with USB-C while using the HDMI port for video, to avoid using the micro-USB port for power?

A: Unfortunately no. USB-C will need to provide both power and image. Micro USB is the only input that will act as a DC power supply for the interface unit, allowing power to the unit while using HDMI for your image.

There is nothing cooler in the world than the Epson BT-35E. I originally bought the BT-2000 Moverio glasses while in Tokyo last March, and they came with their own android interface, which was a custom version of android that couldn't load key applications like Gmail or Google Maps. It was pretty bland, overall. NOW, the BT-35E are an entirely different paradigm. Connecting these projection glasses directly to a computer is fantastic, and FAR better than the previous generations. These glasses let you see your computer screen at 720p (that's 1280x720 pixels), free from prying eyes, free from a desktop, and free from anything else. You can stick a laptop into your backpack and walk around with these glasses on, using your computer with a computer in front of you. This is incredibly convenient if you were trying to get work done while on the go. We organize events at large convention centers, and we will be able to watch for notifications on the glasses about important issues happening at the convention, and take out a bluetooth keyboard and moue and reply live on the go. People can ask questions, and we can answer them directly while look at our computer screen for answers. The screen is clear, bright even in bright rooms, and these glasses are pretty comfortable to wear for a few hours at once. These glasses already get 5 out of 5. I can only picture a few more updates that could make these better: Wireless connection to the glasses from a computer screen (without a clunky android interface first. and a built in battery. It's a little awkward to have wires running to your head in an era of wireless airbuds and bluetooth headphones. Still, these are fantastic!

I am a Part 107 pilot who normally does not have a VO with me on a job do regular VR goggles cannot be used because I do not have broad line-of-site when wearing them. The new Epson BT-35E smart glasses has solved that problem because I see my line-of-site with full peripheral vision while also being able to see on controller screen without looking down. The images are bright and clear. Yes, they are expensive, but the value they have added for me is worth the extra cost. I am looking forward to having an app for the glasses camera so I can it for additional recording.

The construction and manufacture of the glasses is outstanding.

Awesome video glasses - includes dark shield (there are actually two safety glass shields included, one clear, one dark). The dark one is handy if you want to watch a movie in a bright environment and want it to be more the the Cinemizer (another product I have) - I used it today with my DJI Inspire drone and it worked great (plugged it into the HDMI out on the DJI controller). Remember this is not the other Moverio 300 that has an android based controller, this unit is just a pair of video glasses that takes any HDMI / USB-C input. You can plug it into anything with the right adaptor- computer, iphone, etc. Im very happy with it!!!
