Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. My Ubiquiti is installed as a router, creating a second network in addition to my main router. How do I eliminate the second router & reconfigure as a passthrough connection?

A: The product you are mentioning above is an access point. It can only offer an point for wireless access. We suggest you call us that we can ascertain your situation.

Q: 2. Will this work udmp? As ap?

A: Yes, this will work with the Dream Machine.

Q: 3. Does the 5 pack come with POE adapter?

A: No. The 5-pack doesn't include any PoE injectors. Only single access point packages include them.I use Ubiquiti's switches to provide power over Ethernet instead of using injectors.Make sure to choose the right switch. Some APs require non-standard passive 24 Volt power. Not all Ubiquiti support it, last I checked. I think they have an 8-port or a 16-port that does.

Q: 4. Does this include the poe injector? If it doesn't, is there a bundle that does?

A: The single packs, do include a POE injectors

Q: 5. Can multiple UAP-AC-LITE access points be used as a MESH network?

A: Wireless Uplink allows an access point with a wired data connection to act as a Base Station (Uplink AP) for up to four other access points on 5GHz (or 2.4GHz for some legacy APs), which can extend Wi-Fi coverage to inaccessible areas, as well as pull down any configuration and settings changes from the UniFi Network Controller via the upstream AP. This would act as a mesh.

Q: 6. How hard is this unit to install and operate? I am not extremely technical or computer savvy will I have a hard time?

A: It's not hard to install or setup but there may be some conceptual issues that come into play for a non-technical user. The biggest thing you need to understand is that its a wireless bridge only, not a router . You'll need an additional device to do NAT, firewall, DHCP, port forwarding... all of the features that most consumer wireless routers do.The upside of this device is the stellar WIFI coverage (at this price) and the management features when you have more than one AP, or are running multiple SSIDs. Also the PPoE feature allows you to mount it unobtrusively on a ceiling or wall (theres a config option to shut the lights off and it just looks like another smoke alarm type device). If you don't understand any of the above terms, there may be a bit of a learning curve with this device.

Q: 7. Is this working at any country without any issues or warnings?? Because my device that I have had bought from you alerting warning message "Your country is not supported", then I have had to change country to USA and then message disappeared.

A: This unit is intended for use in the United States. The country of use will need to be configured to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Q: 8. Does the device have 180 degree or 360 degree directional antennas? If I mount this on the top of a 12' freestanding wall (facing upwards) and the wireless clients connected to it are below it will the signal be affected?

A: The signal will be affected, you would want to mount it facing down. The Antenna is not a full 360 and it works best facing in the direction of the wireless clients.

Q: 9. Does this include the poe injector?

A: The single packs would include a POE injector.

Q: 10. When used in conjunction with the dream machine pro, will this access point support 5 computers and 5 smartphones on wifi? They are all used in a smallish apartment.

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-LITE UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System BH #UBUAPACLITE is capable of handling 10+ devices no problem. The maximum is 200 clients.

I've been using ubiquity for a number of years now and I am very impressed with the UAP-AC-light five. They don't have the biggest range, and four buildings with a lot of metal it could cause The usable range to be even lower. But for a smaller area or a home these are perfect and I 10 out of 10 recommend.
