I just started using this for photo backup.and I haven't used it much yet. It runs very quietly. It was ready for my MAC right out of the box with no prior formatting. Seagate and Lacie have always worked well for me with no problems. I have a Lacie drive that is going on 12 years and it has never failed. I use drives as an archive and not daily use (10-150 times a year) and never had a hint of problems. I have had hubs fail but never a Lacie or Seagate drive failure. I fear data loss and every piece of data backed up on at least 2 drives some data on 3 drives.

Plugged it to my mac and it worked problem free. Copy and write speed from computer to Lacie is as advertised. No issue with the product.

The bright blue light on the front is the on-off switch. I almost didn't buy this due to other reviews saying there was no switch. I received mine 2/9/2022 for a point of reference. I was also expecting typical mechanical drive sounds from it, but it is very quiet! I ran some random file transfer tests and it averaged round 225 MB/s writing to the 10TB d2 through my USB-C port with very little variance. I did laugh when I saw how bright and distracting the blue light in the on-off switch was once it started flashing to show drive activity. The main casing is aluminum and very sturdy and it has many small rubber feet on the bottom to isolate it from your desk top. For three bills, this is a great purchase.

Over the course of 17 tears I have used LaCie Hard Drives and have had only 1 out of 12 fail me. Quality hard drives

I've owned several d2's in the past -- all quality purchases. My early view of my new 14TB d2 Pro's is they are large capacity; solid and fast performers; exceptionally quiet; warmer to the touch after extended read/write sessions -- but not of concern; and without any other setting or intervention they automatically sleep and wakeup soon after my Mac does. In my opinion, you get what you pay for and these are worth every penny.

The only downside is the blue status light is B-R-I-G-H-T enough to light a dark room at night and can be distracting if they are blinking while you're trying to sleep even down the hall, or if you have them running perhaps in an office when people outside will think the Martians have invaded the place with the bright blue blink-blink-blink. I placed a piece of dimming film over the light and I still have a visual status what's going on with the drive, but without the nighttime glare.

I was impressed with the construction materials - a metal housing, not flimsy plastic. Setup and operation was seamless, and the data transfer rate was about 50% faster than my previous external HD. Ask me in 5 or 6 years about longevity.

I bought this drive because I was working on a project that involved many stacked focus images. My 8TB NAS was filling up quickly and it was too slow. I bought this drive because it was the right size and because it should be more dependable because it is an enterprize quality drive. I have been happy with it so far. Speed is noticeably faster than my NAS, I have never had any start up problems, and I still have ample room to complete my project. One reason for selecting this drive is that it was formatted for Windows, without the need to reformat. The casing is really solid. One minor quibble: I find the size and flashing of the indicator light/switch to be annoying. I would recommend this drive to others who need its size, speed and dependability.

I had never spent any significant money on an external hard drive but I sure wish I had done this earlier. Not that these are the most expensive available but the difference between this and my older externals is night and day. Set up was easy.

I chose this drive because although a previous LaCie (Seagate) failed me, the technicians sent me a new disk with my data restored. You don't need to know how and why the backup of the drive also failed, but the result was that I needed and received my data back via the recovery services that come with these drives. And they are easy and fast and reliable, in short, you get what you are shopping for. I have not figured out how to turn off the disco-dancing led light show that plays when the drive is in use, but I put tape over it. It still wastes my electric power, but it is less distracting covered up.

I needed something that I could just set up and leave to dom it's job and 10Tb was the perfect solution as my computer hard drive was getting slow and overloaded, so my work gets transferred and then backs up to another hard drive.
