The 52mm NanoPro MC ND Filter from Haida provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes 10 layers of anti-reflection coatings, which also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help keep it clean for a longer period of time. The Nano coating associated with the Haida 52mm NanoPro MC Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter provides an additional layer that results in an improved beading effect when the surface comes in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

A thin, aluminum-alloy filter ring minimizes the potential for vignetting, while remaining durable and lightweight.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi there! Does this filter have front threads? Thanks!

A: The Hoya 82mm ND (NDX8) 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) does have 82mm front filter threads.

Q: 2. Is this filter too dark to focus / compose with the filter already mounted?

A: It depends of course on the amount of ambient lighting in your shot. My work flow is to focus first, shoot to check focus, exposure, and composition. You really need to see the image properly expose before adding the filter. Then I shoot a few images with various shutter speeds with the filter on. Eventually you will become intuitive about your exposure times.

Q: 3. Hi Do you have the B+W series 7 0.9 ND filter?

A: The nearest option would this 2 stop version: https://bhpho.to/3x5JhyN Series size filters are only made for older lenses so the filter selection will be rather limited.

Q: 4. What does 1.25x filter factor mean?

A: A filter with a 1.25x filter factor reduces your overall exposure by approximately 0.3 stops.

Q: 5. Do I need a filter holder for an Hoya nd filter?

A: No, this filter screws on to the lens.

Q: 6. Is this filter stackable? And what does the 106M mean in the name?

A: Yes I have stacked them with no visible lose to optical quality.

Q: 7. Does it have a hard stop at each side of the scale, so it won't rotate too much?

A: The Haida NanoPro Variable Neutral Density 1.2 to 2.7 Filter (77mm, 4 to 9-Stop) does not have a hard stop, but it's design allows for smooth transition between stops and stays in place.

Q: 8. Can the Hoya ND filters be stacked?

A: Yes. But be mindful that the following units stacked can cause vignette issues depending on lens being used.

Q: 9. Anyone know if this would vignette on a 16mm on full frame? I primarily shoot a Nikon 16-35 on a D850.

A: This will not vignette on 16-35mm if you do not stack it over UV filter

Q: 10. Does the magnetic adapter ring that screws on the lens contain a 1-stop polarizer like the Freewell's base filters do with their system? Or is Haida's adapter a 0-stop CPL? I want the ability to remove the top VND filter when moving from bright to low-light environments, without having another stop of reduction below it (in the adapter).

A: The magnetic adapter ring in this Haida NanoPro kit does not contain a polarizer.
