Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Your answer to David is two different blacks? Which one do I need with the 5 pack to make the six colors?

A: The 6th cartridge that is not included with this Epson Claria ET Premium T552 Pack of 5 Color Ink Bottles (70mL), is Epson Claria ET Premium T552 Black Ink Bottle (70mL) BH #EPT552020S • MFR #T552020-S

Q: 2. Are the color inks in this inset pigment or dye-based?

A: The Epson T812 High Capacity Black and Standard Capacity Color Combo Pack uses pigment-based inks.

Q: 3. How long is the average shelf life unopened?

A: An Epson Claria Photo HD Ink Cartridge has about a 3-5 year shelf life.

Q: 4. Thanks for your explanation of copy machine vs photo printer. Most of us understand that copy machine prints more text documents while photo printer was not intended to print text but photos. Therefore I would never have thought about asking the estimate of P900 ink usage of print text books — Please forgive me my bluntness. I have also noticed that Epson’s change of cartridge size is possibly a way of increase ink price, e.g. 80ml cartridges cost only $58 each, of course the P900 is much compact. For people who upgrade from P800 to P900, it is definitely a leap of ink cost increase. May I use 3 highly pathetic scenarios for discussion purpose: 1. Print a photo of dark sky with 95% of the entire sky is dark blue and 5% with stars in the night sky. I will think the black and blue cartridges will soon go empty while yellow or magenta ink likely untouched. (How many prints could be produced with 50ml blue and black cartridges in this case?) 2. A high key photo of sky with a tint of orange color. In this case I would assume that the yellow and magenta cartridge will be able to produce a lot more prints than scenario 1. ((But roughly how many prints could be made before yellow and magenta run out?) 3. To print a color chart that divides 17X22 into 10 portions with each of them filled with matching colors of the 10 ink cartridge set. I will assume all the ink cartridge will run out at the same time. (How many prints CAN be produced in this case? — this is Epson color science not artistry. Do you think Epson should print this scenario on to every of their ink cartridges labels, just like a pack of frozen lasagne commonly print “for 2 people or for 4 people” on their packages? ) I am just frustrated that no body seem to want to give a serious answer. I am seriously considering pre-ordering the P900 and I have been buying from B&H for over 20 years.

A: Unfortunately there is no answer. It basically depends on how much ml of ink is on each print & that is something experience & time will tell. this is a high quality photo printer which definitely bring down the cost of more compact printers per print but figure the value of the final product "Gallery & Museum Quality".

Q: 5. are they refillable?

A: No. Only few pages printed. Plugs, requires cleaning often.

Q: 6. Do you still need to buy the black ink separate?

A: No, this Epson T46Y UltraChrome PRO10 Ink Cartridge Bundle includes all the cartridges including black.

Q: 7. What is the difference between Photo Black and Matte Black? When printing B&W photos which one or which ones are used? What about for color prints?

A: When printing on glossy, semi-gloss and satin print surfaces, the Epson automatically defaults to Photo Black, and back to Matte Black when printing onto matte surfaces.

Q: 8. How many prints can this kit do?

A: It all depends on the paper size, the amount of each color on a print, the density, & white back ground. Even Canon can't disclose that info. The only way you might get an estimate is by using it for a while & based on the print size & style you might get some idea. Lets face fact: The inks are quite large (50 ml) & consider the quality of the prints you get out of this printer actually become priceless in value.

Q: 9. looking for t252xl 4 pack with larger black cartridge do you have it ?

A: This is is only standard capacity but the company makes a package with a larger black ink capacity, which is double the size of the standard black. Ultra black in this context refers only to the hue of black. The larger ink cartridge will specifically say that on the package.

Q: 10. How many disks do the cartridges print?

A: I can usally print 3000 at 85 pct satsaturation

Prices are as good, if not better, then most other places.
Ink is clear and lasts a decent amount of time (especially if you get High Capacity, as opposed to standard capacity).

Thank You!
