A: It does not need to be connected to a controller. You can adjust dimmer settings using the buttons on the back of the light, although you need to step through a couple levels of the menu to do so.

A: Velcro - You can put them where you want to. It holds the 4 lights, some cables and my controller just fits the side zippered pocket.

A: Well, these definitely crease permanently when clipped to the grill of a 500 watt work light. Maybe they'll hold up better when just in a tray.

A: Based on the manual, you can set a dimming curve manually using the onboard buttons. For most optimal flexibility, a dmx console would be recommended.
