Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. can I use Cokin z-pro holder with lee filters? Cokin holder is much cheaper, what is the quality difference?
A: I have never tried. Lee is very heavy duty.
Q: 2. Is there any information available on transmittance/absorption as a function of wavelength for this product? I would like to know how it affects CRI and CCT.
A: Since the Cinefoil is opaque and is intended for use as a masking product, the transmission would be zero. While Rosco lists the transmission/absorption on their site, it would be limited to color filters only.
Q: 3. Will this LEE Foundation Kit support Hitech 85 filters ?
A: No. There is no way to adapt the smaller Hitech 85mm wide filters to the 100mm Lee filter holder. This would result in incomplete frame coverage. You would be better off using a Hitech 85 or Cokin P Holder, if you want to stick with the Hitech 85 filters::Cokin P-Series Filter HolderB&H # COFHP ? Mfr # HT85AMHYou can use the Lee Foundation Kit with 100mm Hitech filters, by using these extension slides:LEE Filters Extension Slides for Hitech Filters (3 Pairs)B&H # LEES ? Mfr # SLIDESThis wider format would be useful for ultra-wide lenses (ex. 17-35mm).
Q: 4. Can I use Cokin Z Pro filters with the Lee Foundation kit?
A: The quick answer is yes, the Cokin filters will fit in the Lee Foundation Kit.
Q: 5. I got a rokinon 14 mm lense? I need a adapter ring and a holder... Will this work for the type of lense I got ?
A: Hi fellow shopper,NO... the lens has a Bulbous lens element. You need to check out a different system.Maybe the LEE SW 150,or the Formatt Hitech. Good Luck ,Michael
Q: 6. does this come with a case?
A: Yes.
Q: 7. Can one stack the system on a circular filter attached to your lens without vignetting?
A: Well, yes and no. On my Canon 16-35, I experienced vignetting at 16mm. But none at 18mm and beyond.. On my Zeiss Milvus 21 mm No vignetting noticed. So for me not such a big deal. But what is a major issue, and I believe Lee has recognized this by producing a lens hood of sorts is the terrible flare and reflections when the sun is overhead. In this type of light, the filter kit is unusable. So if you do decide to purchase the filter kit and landscape polarizer and adapter ring definitely also purchase the lens hood or filter cover or whatever it is. Cause you are gonna need it. For Sure.
Q: 8. Will this holder vignette @ 10mm focal length on a Sigma 10-20mm Lens with a 77mm thread?
A: As long as you use the LEE Filters Adapter Ring - 77mm - for Wide Angle Lenses (B&H # LEARWA77), you shouldn't experience vignetting at 10mm with the 10-20mm lens.
Q: 9. Do Cokin 100mm x 150mm filters fit into the Lee holder with or without modifications?
A: Yes, the Lee Filters Foundation Kit can hold any 4x4 or 4x6 (2mm thick) filters, including Cokin.
Q: 10. Can I use this with a circular filter (polarizer) already attached to the lens?
A: If your polarizer has front filter threads and you get the proper Lee adapter ring, then yes it will work. Keep in mind you may get vignetting (darkening of the edges) if it is a wide angle lens.
