I do not think this shield works with a normal filter holder that screws to the front of a lens because it is designed to fill the gap caused by the 14-24 lens fixed front shield.

A: First yes it is a neutral color. However, it is not color correction i.e. won't make fluorescent light daylight balanced. It is diffusion material for nocking down strong light sources such as sunlight or a spotlight. The color temperature of the light source is not changed. If you are looking to change the color temp. check out Lee or Rosco color correcting gels. Also look at the fluorescent tubes if they are daylight it would be printed on the tube. You can purchase daylight tubes too.
