Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can these be used to warm up par 38 led bright white floods?

A: Yes these CTO filters can be used to warm an LED light source with a cooler color temperature.

Q: 2. Is this fireproof?

A: No, the LEE Filters Quick Location Pack - 24 Sheets (10 x 12") listed above are not fireproof. According to LEE Filters, they state that their standard gels are "heat resistant" to 180° degrees Centigrade (356° Fahrenheit). The filters should be used at a slight distance from halogen, tungsten, and some high-intensity LED lamps, but may eventually melt and will require occasional replacement.

Q: 3. Can this filter be used on a regular speedlight or is it only for strobes?

A: Sure! These high-quality acetate sheets can easily be cut down to fit any size required. You can simply rubberband a piece around the head of your speedlight or cut it for use inside a fitted plastic diffuser. Easy-peasy!

Q: 4. Is this fire proof?

A: These gels would not be fire proof. Sufficient air space between the gel and the light would be needed.

Q: 5. Are the filters marked as 1/8, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4 and full CTB? If not is it clear that these values are included in this collection?

A: The gels are marked with a label. Included in the kit are: 2 x 720 Durham Daylight Frost 2 x 203 Quarter CT Blue 2 x 201 Full CT Blue 2 x 218 Eight CT Blue 2 x 202 Half CT Blue 2 x 200 Double CT Blue

Q: 6. So I recently purchased these gels to cut out and use with the filter tray on the Aputure barndoors. Upon turning my 300d mkii up to 100%, it burned right through the center. Should I just be clipping these onto this light? Or are there other filter alternatives that can go in those trays?

A: It would be best to clip the gels to the barndoor leaves in order to allow for more air space.

Q: 7. I have an amaran 672s and was wondering how these would work with the light. Do they slide down between the front cover and the light itself? Do they somehow adhere? Thanks for the help.

A: The following Gels can be gaffers tapped to the frame of the Amaran 672. For a clean install we suggest the following. Impact Universal Filter Holder - 12x12" (30.5 x 30.5 cm) B&H # IMUFHQ MFR # 3312-MK2 https://bhpho.to/3kVKJ3C

Q: 8. In what light can I use it? Reflector? Could you advise me?

A: These gels are small sheets, slightly smaller than a sheet of office paper. They are not intended for large and powerful lights, which require a roll of gel rather than a sheet. These are best used on lights with a suitably small lens/aperture, such as a small LED panel or a fresnel like the Arri 650 or lower. If you are using hot lights, keep them a few inches away or the heat will melt them. They are fantastic for coloring smaller LED lights.

Q: 9. How thick are these gels? I'm looking for something that's about 2mm thick that has some stiffness to it. My application is to use them on submerged LED lights for fountain uplighting, cut them to size (2.5" dia.) and velcro them over the lens. Any advice? Thanks.

A: These filters are soft paper thin

Q: 10. would this work on aputure 120d ii? would it melt away or will stay fine

A: These gels can be used on an Aputure C120D II. While LED lights produce much less height, it is always a good idea to attach the gels with a bit of air space between them and the light.
