Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. On the 8 port passive POE switch, could you power a POE device and a POE+ device?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks US-8 UniFi 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Managed Switch can only supply PoE power via its single PoE passthough port.

Q: 2. What are the temperature ranges for this device?

A: The operating temperature for this switch is 32 to 104°F / 0 to 40°C.

Q: 3. Can this be powered by a PoE injector?

A: The amount of current in the scenario you present will not be as critical as the wattage required by the end device. The rating indicates the maximum amperage that can be provided. The primary factor in PoE is wattage.

Q: 6. Will I be able to place this device on a pole 100m away from my 150w POE ubiquiti switch via cat cable and then output 1 short cat to a PTZOptics camera and then out another port on this device cat cable additional 100m to a second PTZ Optics Camera? How about after that? How many can you daisy chain in a row?

A: The distance of 100m should be fine. In regards to daisy chaining just don't exceed the mount of power output from your source device.

Q: 7. Can I use this to take one CAT6 cable running from my Dahua NVR and split it into two CAT6 cables so I am able to connect two POE IP cameras using the one line into the NVR?

A: Yes, you can split the POE power to 2 cameras.

I have sold these items several times for SMB with and without UDM's. They are great workgroup switches for a couple of VOIP phones or even IP Cameras.

The Ubiquiti NanoSwitch installs easily. I used a Ubiquiti POE-24-24W-G injector to power the NanoSwitch and the devices plugged into it (passive 24V) - a G3 bullet camera, a G3-AF bullet camera and a NanoStation LocoM2 access point used as one half of a wireless bridge at a remote shed transmitting to LAN in the house. Very happy with this setup.

Used this to replace a suspect unmanaged switch that had 2 computers, 2 printers, 2 phones, and a credit card machine attached to it. It immediately identified that one of the computers had a bad network card. Once replaced, some weirdness on that segment disappeared that had been hard to track down. Good management tools using Unifi. Will buy more.

We purchased these switches to round out our inventory of all new ubiquity switches. We have provisioned them in our test environment and will go live in 2 weeks with the full network. All going great with them so far.
