This 4-stop, 58mm Graduated Neutral Density Attenuator/Blender Filter from Tiffen is densest at one edge where it corresponds to a reduction of light entering a lens by 4 stops and tapers to clear at the other edge. Its gradation can be used to selectively darken an image from edge to edge, allowing for wider apertures or reduced shutter speeds. While this graduated attenuator/blender's 1.2 density can be applied to bright skies, the remaining regions of the image are exposed with a progressively decreasing effect.

This filter is constructed using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Q: 1. What size slip-on cap fits the 77mm size? Spec says front is 82mm; only push on is Kaiser 82 & people say it it's not a 82mm.

A: We check the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (77mm) in the store and it has 82mm front threads. So you can use an 82mm front clip on filter such as this: https://bhpho.to/4aMTVOT

Q: 2. hello     I wanted to ask about the  (Freewell Bright Day Variable Neutral Density 1.8 to 2.7 Filter (6 to 9-Stop  (and the Freewell  VND 0.6 to 1.5 Filter (2 to 5-Stop I wanted to ask if the Freewell filters have a front filter threads to connect to them Other filter like a diffusion filter.i I want to put a diffusion filter on front the vnd Freewell filter,? Is it possible

A: They do not have threads on the front.

Q: 3. Is the ND filter "clear" or "off" before turning the dial to position 2 (or higher)?

A: There is a tint to the filter prior to adjusting it to a higher setting.

Q: 4. I need this filter but with mist 1/8...

A: Here is the link to the same filter but with a 1/8 mist: https://bhpho.to/39elov0

Q: 5. Are they hard stops?

A: Yes the stops are hard on the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter. You can feel the filter pause as you rotate it past each mark so you know how many stops you are blocking.

Q: 6. Is it best to put this VND on before or after a mist filter?

A: It generally does not matter if you put the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (82mm) on before or after a mist filter, it can come down to preference.

Q: 7. is it stackable? meaning, if you wanted to stack a black pro mist on top or some there 77mm filter, can you do it? or would those have to go before the ND?

A: These are not front threaded and do not allow any filters to be attached to the front. Any additional filters you would want to use would need to go behind this filter. Though always watch out for vignetting which can happen when stacking to many filters.

Q: 8. Does this filter require a magnetic base?

A: The Freewell 95mm Standard Day Variable Neutral Density 0.6 to 2.7 Filter (2 to 5-Stop) is not magnetic but has 95mm threads. Only the included cap is magnetic.

Q: 9. Would this fit a 12mm samyang lens?

A: The K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (67mm) BH #KFVFND240067 fits lenses with a front thread of 67mm. I am not seeing we currently sell a 12mm Samyang with that thread size. You will want to double check your lens to see what the front thread size is. You did not list the full name for us to check.

Q: 10. is it possible to stack more filters on top?

A: According to information from Freewell, the front of this filter is unthreaded, meaning you won't be able to stack filters on top of it. You could mount some filters behind it, but we recommend not stacking too many as it could lead to unwanted results. Your mileage may vary.
