The Tiffen 5 x 5" Fog 1 Filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft glow around highlights and lowering the overall contrast of the scene. There can also be a softening effect due to how the light interacts with the subject matter. The 1 density provides a greater amount of fog effect than the 1/2, but less than the 2, and requires no exposure compensation.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 5 x 5" / 127 x 127mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this protection lens on Canon cine prime 24mm?I need 105 or 114 for the Canon lens ?

A: This filter will fit any lens with a 105mm coarse filter thread.

Q: 2. Is the glass element removable? Is it held in with glue, or a screw-type locking ring or c-clip?

A: No, the glass is not designed to be removed. It is enclosed by the specifically sized aluminum frame.

Q: 3. Will this work for a Nikkor ais 24mm f2.8 lens?

A: Yes, since it has a 52mm thread but for manual focus lenses, a linear polarizer is more appropriate, but you can still use a circular polarizer.

Q: 4. Does this have a rotating feature?

A: The filter does have a rotating component. The outer portion rotates while the inner part remains fixed to the lens.

Q: 5. What's the difference between the wide angle version and the regular one? It is better to get a "wide angle" filter instead the regular one for a 17-40L?

A: Yes, wide angle filters are thinner. If you are using with an APS-C size sensor either thin or regular filters will work. For full frame sensor cameras and the 17-40 lens, a wide angle filter will avoid any possible vignetting of the corners.

Q: 6. If you don't use ice, will it work like a normal fogger?

A: While the unit requires dry ice or ice for low lying fog, you can simply use the fog fluid with it as a normal fog machine.

Q: 7. is this the only UV filter fitting Canon 400mm f/4 DO-ES EF USM?

A: Yes, this filter will fit this lens. The Canon 400mm actually has a Drop-In filter system, which uses a holder that is attached to the lens very close to its mount, that why it is able to use 52mm filters.

Q: 8. Is the Tiffen 72CP Polarizing filter screw in and can the amount of polarizing be changed by rotating the filter?

A: Yes, the Tiffen 72mm Circular Polarizing Filter is a screw mount filter. This filter does allow you to adjust the amount polarization you want to use by rotating the outer ring.

Q: 9. Will this fit on the Olympus 25 mm f/1.8?

A: Is this the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens? If so, that lens takes a 46mm filter

Q: 10. Will this work on the nikon 1 j1?

A: Yes, this would fit your kit lens on the 1 J1 camera which uses a 40.5mm sized filter threading.
