A: Well, it's an extremely wide angle lens, so yes, it does distort the image and no, it's not rectilinear. That said, the projection is not a pure fisheye ... it's more of a stereographic graphic projection meaning that it has less of a pronounced central bulge to the image and things look a bit more natural. I'm not the author of the review and have no relationship with the site, but found it while researching the lens for myself. There's are reviews of the both the old and new version of the lens. I found it very useful when I was considering my own purchase ... and BTW ... I love the lens. :) Definitely a special use item, but a lot of fun to shoot with. And very well built.

A: The IRIS is usually closed. When power is supplied via the DC cable connected to the camera, the IRIS will open. If you do not want an auto IRIS, I would recommend looking at a manual IRIS lens.
