Wear-resistant keypad

Certified secure with FIPS level 3

The SecureDrive will work on any host operating system (Microsoft Windows, MacOS, iOS, Linux, Chrome, Thin Clients, Zero Clients, Android, and Embedded systems)

Pre-loaded one year license for the USB anti-virus by ESET real-time heuristic scanning

The USB controller will be unlocked to initiate communication between the drive and host OS when the user enters the correct PIN via the on-board keypad

Hardware encryption eliminates loss in data read/write speeds

The data encryption process consists of 14 different rounds of encryption to make your original data unrecognizable to an unauthorized user

SecureDrive encryption for data at rest is implemented using the XTS block cipher mode since it circumvents multiple weaknesses of the older AES modes, such as CBC and ECB

USB 3.0 uses two unidirectional data paths, one to receive data and the other to transmit

The USB SuperSpeed bus provides a transfer mode at a nominal rate of 5.0 Gb/s while being backwards compatible with USB 2.0 for older hardware

Brute force anti-hacking detection is triggered by entering an incorrect password ten consecutive times

BadUSB protection

Setting up an admin PIN will allow the administrator to regain access to the data if the user is no longer available

Optional read-only mode prevents writing, deleting, saving, or editing any files to the device until read/write is enabled

You can save boot files and drivers required to load a PC, laptop, or workstation on a SecureDrive and it will keep your system image fully encrypted until you're ready to load the machine

The drive can be set to automatically lock after a pre-set amount of time of inactivity to protect against unauthorized access when the drive is connected to a host computer and unattended

Red, green, and blue LEDs

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this a 64 compliant drive for Mac OS?

A: The Rocsecure EX31 is OS independent and is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7/8/10/, Linux, and Mac OS 10.5 and later. Its USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface is backward-compatible.

Q: 2. is this a good choice for Mac Pro running OS 10.6 to replace master drive? Much video editing is the workload.

A: This HDD is an UltraStar so it's design is to run and operate 24/7 these HDD are designed for storage in RAID servers, so to answer your question yes it's a good HDD and it will work for what you want to use it for, but if you are using this as your main OS HDD then I would invest in an SDD a little more money but your processes will work quicker.

Q: 3. Will this fit on the Sirui ET2204?

A: The Sirui KP-59 Mounting Plate is compatible with the Sirui ET-2204 Travel Carbon Fiber Tripod.

Q: 4. Is this a 64 bit complaint drive for Mac OS?

A: The Rocsecure EX31 is OS independent and is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7/8/10/, Linux, and Mac OS 10.5 and later. Its USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface is backward-compatible.

Q: 5. What is the warranty on this drive?

A: This hard drive would come with a 5-Year Warranty

Q: 6. The description says 64MB Data Buffer . I bought one today at MicroCenter with the same UPC code as above and MFR #0S03601 and mine says that it has a 128MB Data Buffer. So what gives?NOTE. On the HD itself I see the number 0F23025APK7J00P62 and it was manufactured on February 2016.

A: Hi Paul,0S03601 is a retail kit drive, sold on capacity and performance. The actual model in your retail kit was the newer Ultrastar 7K6000 - but the 4TB model to match the specs for 0S03601.Thats why you have the larger cache size.

Q: 7. Used in an external enclosure can this be connected with USB 3?

A: I believe it depends on the interface between the enclosure and the USB port. In other words it is enclosure dependent.

Q: 8. Can you use this for surveillance camera

A: No. This Seagate 8TB BarraCuda SATA III 3.5" Internal HDD (Retail Packaging) would not fit in most if any surveillance camera. If you are looking to use it in a surveillance recorder (DVR/NVR), you would really want a surveillance rated drive.

Q: 9. Can i use other Hard Drive brands like WD along with this Drive internally in my Desktop Machine?

A: Drives are built to connect to the motherboard through a standard interface (in this case SATA), and a driver that make them appear to the operating system as generic components. So yes, apart from odd exceptions like Michael L. noted, you can mix component brands like you can mix Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina lenses on any ILC with the same mount.

Q: 10. This hard drive going to replace my previous hard drive TOSHIBA MK5061GSY for my Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 laptop? will this hard drive going to work with my laptop?

A: Check the specs and harddrive SIZE supported by your laptop. This Seagate drive is 15mm thick. Normally laptops need 9mm.

I love disk drives that let me worry less. A couple of years ago I started buying UltraStar enterprise-grade drives, after laying to rest a few consumer-grade drives that died too young. I was attracted to these UltraStar drives by their five-year warranty and excellent MTBF ratings. Once I made the switch, I never looked back. In the past six years I've purchased 19 UltraStar drives, and one has been in service as my system drive almost 24/7 for those six years. I've never had one go bad.

I've been using Hitachi drives, especially Ultrastar, since Seagate's Enterprise drives started failed miserably in large batches a few years ago, and never looked back. Very few failures. This one worked flawlessly to upgrade a Drobo storage device.

I am a freelance DIT, and HGST is the only SATA HDD drive that I would buy. Based on my experience, I believe it is the best enterprise drive on the market. When Western Digital aquired HGST, I was concerned that the HGST and G-Technology brand might suffer. But based on the new products from each, and continued reliability, I think the partnership has been beneficial for WD and HGST (and G-Technology).

Drive was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged. Mounting the drive in an external case and formatting it for use as a Time Machine Drive for an iMac was a cinch. Drive is just a little bit noisier that I anticipated, but it works well and I'm hoping to get many years of service from it.

This is seventh external drive I have purchased that is manufactured by Hitachi. The previous model the DeskStar was my standard. Now that the UltraStar has replaced it I will continue to buy as I am totally happy with their performance. Will continue to buy this product in the future.
