I've been using Western Digital external hard drives for the past 10+ years. They are affordable, and work great. I always buy two and duplicate my backup info so have a backup in case one fails. These aren't as fast as the SSD type, but as a photographer/videographer who keeps all of my photos in archive, that's what I use these for and don't need them to be particularly speedy. Great product - and glad they connect through USB C. Ideal for my MacBook Pro. 5

Living in an area subject to wildfires & other natural disasters, I am quite diligent about backing up our home computing. This is the third of these WD drives I own. While the price of SSD storage has dropped, I find these portable HDDs still cost about 4 times less than SSD-based storage. Their compact size takes up little space in my disaster “go bag.” With so much of our lives & work now stored digitally, everyone should adopt a strategy for recovering from disasters. You will find these drives quite useful in your strategy. 5

After having great luck over the years with WD Passport (spinning disk) drives and then trying a WD external SSD (which has had multiple issues), I returned to obtain another of the Passport (disk) drives with which I've had much success over the years. 5

This HD was incredibly easy to set up for Time Machine on my iMac desktop computer! Plug in, follow prompts, and go! Very reasonably priced as well, although you can’t put a price on feeling like your data is backed up and safe. :) 5

I own a bunch of these. Inexpensive, lots of memory, a good way to back up your data without having to pay so much money for cloud storage. I triple backup all of my work on three different drives, and when those are filled up, I just buy a few more. Just backup your stuff, and leave them in a closet. Not a drive for editing. Stick to SSD for that, for sure. 5

Works great for backing up computers for offsite storage. The USB-C interface is very convenient. I bought two of these, one blue PC version and one silver Mac version, which I reformatted to NTFS on a PC. Makes it easier to tell the two apart if they're different colors. 5
