Anyone transitioning from a large DSLR to the Canon EOS R is immediately struck by the small size of the body. While the advantages of this are obvious, the grip of the camera can feel awkward and takes a period of adjustment. The next thing that strikes you is how fast the battery discharges compared to cameras with optical viewfinders.
Both problems are solved by adding this reasonably priced accessory. While still keeping the unit much smaller than its DSLR cousins, the battery grip adds a sense of bulk and stability lacking with just the camera body alone, giving the user that ergonomic feel for which Canon is known. By holding two batteries, the time between required replacement or charging is effectively doubled. Either one of these advantages justifies the purchase of this product in my opinion. But having them both makes it a no brainer for anyone making the switch from a flagship DSLR.

It’s great to not have to change the batteries so often. The charging on the batteries directly to the grip is awesome.

The camera grip has helped me out a lot when it comes to portrait photos, and charging the camera quicker. I found it a little misleading having the fact that I did not know that it just holds 2 batteries and the camera grip isn't a battery itself, but maybe that's just me not reading the descriptions properly, apart from that once I get 2 extra other batteries for my Canon R, it will help me out a lot more when going on customer shoots or video shoots.

I’ve been working with the 5D series since the very beginning and jumping to the R mirrorless body seems quite a big change on ergonomics. The BG-E22 helps in a great way to make this new camera more comfortable and better weight balanced when used with long heavy lenses on vertical orientation. Also the possibility of work as a battery charger, it’s a great plus.

This was a game changer. I really like my EOS R, and the way it comes with no grip feels great in the hands. But with bigger lenses it was a little front heavy. But with this grip it feels totally balanced, I love love love having two batteries, charging from the grip is awesome and I love the vertical control buttons. Makes shooting so much more enjoyable.

This really makes the camera feel more professional and it's awesome to have the extended battery life.

This is awesome and easy to install. Heavy. But you get used to it. I have smaller hands and I am able to handle it well. I love the ability to have dual controls! Super handy!

Size durability and is overall a great grip. Portraits are easier to shoot and the grip makes it easy to change fast in a wedding venue as well.

I am very grateful that I brought this battery grip for my Canon R. I like the fact that you can control when your camera is on portrait orientation. The battery grip is very comfortable for your hand wrist. Also, the battery life is nice and last longer. Highly recommended to all photographers who have Canon R camera.
