A: The Audioengine HD6 pair will blow away the JBL pair! The JBL Extreme's particular charms are that it is a portable bluetooth system, splash-proof, rugged and battery operated. A: I tried these with a Mac, and the Dragonfly black, and noticed a definite, but subtle improvement in overall sound quality. I was unable to test the better models.

A: I believe A5+ can be computer speakers because they are active speakers comes with amplifier embedded. However, they are too big if you put them next to my 27 monitor. Imagine it will looked so out of proportion with smaller monitor. I suggest you use A2+ and add a subwoofer to give better bass than A5+ can provide. A2+ will be less costly. Money saved can pay a portion of a sub. I currently use A5+ on speaker stands with a 4K TV, which put out terrible sound quality. I am an audiophile and I cannot recommend A5+ or A2+ as hifi speakers for music listening. They are just OK speakers and cost effective.
