Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this safely support an AEA R44C mic (nearly 8lbs.) at full extension?

A: The Triad-Orbit Starbird SB-1 Studio Boom Stand has a recommended maximum weight capacity of 10 kg/22 lbs and should accommodate an 8 pound microphone apparatus nicely with its VariBal Counter Ballast System.

Q: 2. Is the IO-H2 5/8" Mounting version compatible with the IO-R Quick-Change IO-R Quick-Change Coupler Retrofit Kit? Want to set up a SM7B, Beta 58a, and Rode Procaster to easily swap on and off a Tama 5/8 thread MS756RELBK boom stand.

A: Yes. The IO-H2 5/8" Mounting Head from Triad-Orbit allows you to integrate 5/8" threaded gear to one of their IO-equipped stands or mounts, and is designed for added weight handling capacity.

Q: 3. Will this connect the IO Utility Laptop Desk to my Manfrotto tripod?

A: with the impact Short Double-Female Round Spigot with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 Threads https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1305583-REG/impact_srp_101p_round_short_adapter_with.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 4. What is the load capacity of the T2 tripod?

A: Dear Chris,Thank you for your inquiry. Our Triad stands are rated to hold up to 35lbs (16kgs) before the top tube may start to lower. However, depending on how much you tighten the top clutch, you may see a lower or higher capacity. I hope that this answers your question, but if it doesn't, please let me know and we will find the right solution.Sincerely,Richard CarriganTriad-Orbit Support Teama href= http://www.Triad-Orbit.com target= _blank www.Triad-Orbit.com/a

Q: 5. How do you rotate the unit back to 0? I mean exactly, not approximately.

A: Per the instruction book (pg 15), the device starts at 5 degrees and rotates to 360 degrees by 5 degree increments, so 0 would actually be 5 degrees (there is also a chart on pg 14).

Q: 6. The Kali IN-5-C already comes with a backing plate almost identical to this. But Kali say the original IN-5 is not suitable for wall mounting. So is this for the original IN5 or not?

A: Yes, the Triad-Orbit Mounting Plate for Kali IN-5 Speakers is intended for use in wall mounting a single Kali Audio IN-5 3-Way Studio Monitor. You can see how it is attached to the wall and to the speaker in the photos shown on the item page.

Q: 7. Would this be a good option to use for time lapse photography?

A: Not particularly. Its modes include 180-360 degree rotation with set number of stops (1-200) for panoramic stitching. This is great for panorama and rotational product still photography, but would introduce hitches in video. There are three motor speeds, and the slowest is about a minute for a full rotation. You can also manually hold down the rotation button for continuous rotation (using the remote so that you don't introduce any jiggle) but a minute of 360 degree rotation doesn't give you a lot to work with for time-lapse. Since your question is about photography, rather than video, you can set the shutter speed from 1-99 seconds, so that may be applicable. So, it's not super flexible, but it's excellent for its intended use.

Q: 8. What are the dimensions of the brass hex itself?

A: The brass hex section of the Triad-Orbit IO-H4 1/4"-20 Mounting Head is 1.5 inches long.

Q: 9. Collapsed/disassembled length?

A: While the manufacturer does not specify the collapsed length of the boom arm, we would estimate around 19'' based on maximum length photos from their website.

Q: 10. Is th 5/8 correct fir SM7b, Procaster and Beta 58a?

A: Yes. Standard microphone threading is 5/8.
