Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have the Canon 24-70mm USM lens which size would be best for the focus gear?

A: We have found the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens to have an 82mm diameter for its focus ring. As such, the Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring (81 to 83mm) should work great for it.

Q: 2. What is the correct size for the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM Lens focus ring?

A: You should use the 81 to 83mm Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring.

Q: 3. Do these screws work with the Ikan EC1 release plate

A: It's advised to not use the D-ring screw since it can get in the way of the base plate.

Q: 4. I am looking to get these for old Nikon Ai-s photo lenses and a few voigtlander lenses. Is the diameter the same as the filter diameter or do I need to measure around the focus ring somehow?

A: Please use this ruler to measure your lenses for the correct size seamless Tilta ring. Ruler - https://bit.ly/3TlOugU

Q: 5. Gives the depth of the screw but does not give the diameter of the head. What is the diameter of the head?

A: The head diameter of the head with D ring is 5/8".

Q: 6. Will this work with the new Tamron 35-150 f2/f2.8 E mount?

A: The Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring (81 to 83mm) would not fit on the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD Lens (Sony E) as it has a diameter of around 89mm. It would be recommended to measure the size of the control ring that you would like to mount the gear ring on in order to get the best fit.

Q: 7. What is the correct size for the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 Lens focus ring?

A: The focus ring on the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 is 77.7mm. This Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring (75 to 77mm) should fit. However, you may wish to also get the Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring (78 to 80mm) BH #TITAFGR7880

Q: 8. Hi, I'm looking for softboxes larger than the Angler Silverboxes. So what brands of softbox with grid that's available from B&H and is compatible with this speed ring? Thank you

A: We do not recommend going any larger than 24 x 32", since the Angler Shadow Focus Light cannot hold much weight. A suitable softbox to fit the ring in question is the Impact Luxbanx Duo Medium Rectangular Softbox (24 x 32"), B&H # IMLBRDM. https://bhpho.to/38XUpmn

At such a low cost I bought a variety of sizes for all my lenses. They fit perfectly on my set of Sirui anamorphic lenses. I do suggest getting snug fits to keep them from sliding on the lens.

Finally, gear rings that make sense and are priced right. for just about the same price as one of the popular gear rings, I bought several of the Tilta rings. I'm one of those dirty Nikon owners (seems that not many 3rd party companies give Nikon love), so the size chart for Nikon lenses are just not there. So I bought just about all the sizes of these to figure out what sizes worked. At these prices, that didn't cost much.

So, my review thus far. They're hard bands that flex just enough to attach, providing a solid fit with strong gear teeth. They don't add much more to the lenses focus or zoom rings so they can be left on when using on your still cameras or packing. Now that I know what sizes I need, I'll be buying for the lot.

A few years ago manufacturers were charging north of $80 for one of these gear rings. Now for $2 you get a ring that works perfectly with your follow focus unit that can be split down further into two separate rings. It's the perfect choice for turning your photo lenses into perfectly compatible cinema like lenses for your AKS system. I am using it for my Mamiya 645 glass which was the 72-74mm size. Super easy to measure what size is for your particular lens. Take a string and wrap it around the focus barrel of your lens. Where the string touches itself, straighten the string out from that point mildly taut and measure with a ruler.
