Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How low will this allow a soft box to go? I need something to hold my soft box down low on the ground for newborn photography.

A: This stand probably will not work for that. The pin is about 34 at it's lowest. Take a look at the sliding arm stand. Manfrotto 231 Column Stand with Sliding Arm I have two of them with an extra arm each to hold two lights and they will allow you to put your soft box right down on the floor or up to 8'

Q: 2. What's the size of this stand when folded ?

A: The Matthews Low Boy Double Riser Combo Stand (Silver, 6.4') folded is approxemelty 36 inches.

Q: 3. What is the weight limit/capacity of this stand?

A: This is by far my favorite stand ever in my life

Q: 4. when folded up ( for transport ) what is the full length of the stand?

A: This Matthews Hollywood Combo Double Riser Stand folds to about 63".

Q: 5. The weight of the Hollywood stand is 13 pounds. Is that the steel version? What is the weight of the aluminum model?

A: The aluminum 2 riser combo 13 lbthe steel 2 riser combo 28 lb

Q: 6. What kind of grip heads are typically recommended for this?

A: As the Matthews Hollywood Combo Double Riser Stand (Silver, 11.3') has a combo universal head that includes both a 5/8" stud and a 1-1/8" receiver, you may use either type grip head for your usage needs. The larger Matthews Hollywood Grip Head (4-1/2"), B&H # MAGH4.5, the Avenger D400 4.5" Grip Head with Junior Pin, B&H # AVD400, and Impact 4.5" Junior Grip Head, B&H # IMME102P, would use the large 1-1/8" junior receiver, while the Matthews Hollywood Grip Head - 2-1/2", B&H # MAHWH2.5, the Avenger D200 2.5" Grip Head, B&H # AVD200, and the Impact Grip Head for Lights and Accessories - 2.5" Diameter (Chrome), B&H # IMKCP200, would work with the 5/8" stud.

Q: 7. Will this stand hold the weight of a steel matthews boom arm with a profoto D2 1000 head on it, along with any modifiers?

A: Yes, Load Capacity 50 lb / 22.68 kg

Q: 8. How much does the entire package weights?

A: The Matthews Hollywood Combo Aluminum Stand (11.3') is 13 lb / 5.9 kg.

Q: 9. Is this aluminum combo sturdy enough to have something like a Skypanel s60 with chimera at top stick not wobble much?

A: The Matthews Hollywood Combo Aluminum Stand (11.3') has a maximum load capacity of 50 lbs (22.68 kg), and would be strong enough to be able to support the weight of the ARRI SkyPanel S60-C LED Softlight, which weighs 26.5 lbs. That being said, as I recommend with all light fixtures and light stands, I also recommend using sandbags on the base of the light stand as additional ballast for safety/security purposes.

Q: 10. Is this stand sturdy enough to safely accommodate the Westcott Apollo 50 with the Einstein Strobe? I will be using it primarily for newborn photography and I like that it's low enough to get the Apollo to the floor but it still rolls.

A: This is a very sturdy stand which can support a large amount of weight, However with a large softbox you're definitely creating a high center of gravity, I recommend at least 1 pumpkin weight (linked below) usual used on booms, however they clamp easily to the leg of this stand and don't negatively effect mobility as a sandbag would.

AMAZing quality construction for this low boy 2x riser stand made by Matthews. I absolutely love this stand. I use it with the innovativ Axis wheels (which work with this 1 square tubing legs) and the axis worksurface pro. It's great since you have a baby pin up top to add for an extra monitor for photographer / client as well. MUST buy for any digitech / DIT / camera loader out there
