Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what type of amp is best for this mic and harmonica?

A: Many harmonica players like to use a microphone through a small combo amplifier designed for guitar to achieve a tone with a little more grit and dirtier tone than a standard PA speaker. Perhaps something like the Blackstar Debut 15E Stereo 15W Practice Guitar Amplifier (B&H # BLDEBUT15EBG) or the Roland CUBE-10GX Guitar Amplifier (B&H # ROCUBE10GX), or the VOX Valvetronix VT20X Hybrid Modeling 1x8 Combo Guitar Amplifier (B&H # VOVT20X).

Q: 2. How do i hook it up?

A: Use an XLR microphone cable:Kopul - Premium Performance 3000 Series XLR M to XLR F Microphone Cable - 6' (1.8 m), Black (B&H# KOM3006)Product Highlights: XLR M to XLR F Cable Color-Coded for Visibility and Style Ideal for Live Sound & Performance 95% Dual-Spiral Shield Twin Conductive PVC Inner Shields 24-Gauge OFC Conductors Cotton-Yarn Wrap Reduces Noise Shrink-Wrapped Solder Points Neutrik XX Silver Connectorshttp://bhpho.to/1blahAn

Q: 3. does it work with the canon 5d mark II? what cable do i need for Shure SM57-LC Microphone to work with my 5d?

A: Not sure it depends on what type of audio inputs your camera has. The mic takes a standard xlr connector so it will probably have to be terminated at the other end with something compatible or adapted.

Q: 4. Is there a sensitivity rating for this mic?

A: Yes it does. Sensitivity in free field, no load (1kHz)1,8 mV/Pa. Also keep in mind there is Low sensitivity to impact and handling noise. This is due to the very high sound pressure handling capability.

Q: 5. Does this have a mute and on/off button ?

A: No, the Shure SM48-LC Vocal Microphone does not have an on/off switch. The Shure SM48S-LC Vocal Microphone with On/Off Switch (B&H # SHSM48SLC) is the version that does include an on/off switch.

Q: 6. What's the dynamic range?

A: The frequency response is 40 to 15,000 HZ.

Q: 7. is a 604 mic good enough for a alto sax ?

A: The e604 can be used for miking instruments like a sax in addition to drums and would be able to handle the SPL. For an alternative that can also be mounted a condenser will offer better capture tonally. The e908 or Shure Beta-98 are common alternatives.

Q: 8. can it be used with a standard 3.5 mic plug, or if it connect to an XLR can it be used with an adapter for input to a Camcorder or DSLR camera?

A: I'm using an XLR to Mini Jack cable (B&H# COCMMXF10), and I can plug it into a DSLR

Q: 9. Can I connect this to my mac to use with garage band?

A: You will need an XLR to USB interface. Don't go with a cable, get an actual interface. Do a search for XLR to USB interface, M Audio makes some great products.

Q: 10. I just got this shire package, but how come it has a low output? i don't know what the problem is. I triple checked everything is plugged in right and my settings are fine. My preamp is a Behringer Eurorack UB1204-pro and I'm using logic pro.

A: Get a cloudlifter to boost the signal.

The industry standard SM57 is a standard for a reason. The sounds really come through and super clear compared to other dynamic mics on the market. Recommend this to anyone wanting to recored instruments in the studio or on stage.

I'm using SM57 for recording music or speech etc. in a small hall with setting mic stands in front of speakers. For a video shooter like me, audio quality is really important. In the case of live recording, getting a line signal from a PA mixer is ideal, however, sometimes it is better to stand SM57 in front of speakers, because the balance of signal and surrounding noise is awesome, so it can be heard more naturally than a PA line. SM57 and SM58 are the most reliable mics. I don't need to say so anymore. Of course, the audio quality is super clear and the metal body is so stable.
The mic stand and cable including this bundle are also enough stable for this price.

This is a microphone that works very well when recording to my Tascam 8 track recorder. The recorded audio is well balanced-not tinny or overly bassy. The bass is not muddy nor are the high frequencies lacking. It is built very solid and produces clean audio. I like the way that it can be placed very close to a guitar to pick up the full range of sound. If you purchase one you will not be upset.

After getting burned by two other (less expensive) vendors who sold me counterfeit SM57 microphones, I decided to pay full price at B&H. I'm a drummer and I use these mics in my basement studio to record myself, to analyze my practice sessions and progress. In the 40 years I've been playing, I've never heard myself in such great quality. I use two SM57 mics as room mics, to record in stereo with a focusrite digital interface recording onto a computer. The SM57s work exceptionally well suspended from the ceiling or on stands 3ft away and pointed at either side of my drum kit. I'm getting zero clipping. A great drum mic for individual drums or as a room mic.

For the price, get 10 or 12.
Seriously, though... I bought my first one 50 years ago, it still works, and I just bought another one. And I'm sure it isn't the last one.

The mic is great of course. An industry standard and first choice for most professionals to mic a guitar amp. I'm no pro but I concur - works fine for me! Handled vocals too.
The rest of the kit (mic stand and XLR cable) is surprisingly good quality too - overall a great buy!
