As implied by the name, the Profoto Hardbox is the exact opposite of the more commonly used softbox. It eliminates stray light and reduces the size of the light source in order to produce deep, sharp shadows and pinpoint-sized highlights. This look replicates direct sunlight with excellent contrast. Additionally, the hardbox works with optional barndoors or an adapter that can hold grids, filters, or a snoot.

The hardbox is compatible with all Profoto light heads. When used on lights with a built-in reflector, such as the D1, D2, B1, and B2, the effect is not as strong as it would be with a bare-bulb head.

Q: 2. How long does the battery last if I plan to use continuous light for video?

A: The following unit only offers a 2.1 watt modeling light which we would not suggest for video use.

Q: 3. Do it work with high speed sync?

A: If you own a camera that has High-Speed Sync capabilities, and you also have a Profoto Air Remote TTL Transmitter for the brand camera you own, then yes, you may use High-Speed Sync with the Profoto A2 Monolight.

Q: 4. only work whit iPhone? what about Android?

Q: 5. Can the A2 light (its battery) be plugged in to AC power while using it, the same as a B10?

A: The Profoto A2 cannot be powered via AC.

A: Yes you would need a OCF speed ring Profoto Speed Ring for OCF Flash Heads B&H # PROCFSR MFR # 101210

Q: 7. I want this to be a second light for a B10 setup. Does it work well with an existing Profoto Air Remote TTL-C Transmitter (I will only have one, two or three lights)? What else do I need to keep in mind? I never bought a second B10 and this looks like a good option. Thanks

A: The Profoto A2 Monolight will work with all of the Profoto Air units.

Q: 8. Will this accessory fit the D1?

A: Yes this reflector is compatible with current Profoto heads including the D1 monolight.

Q: 9. Can it be used with Godox ad200 and ad 400 pro without any special adapter?

A: No it can not

Q: 10. Is there an optical sensor in the A2?

A: The Profoto A2 Monolight BH #PROFOTOA2 does not have an optical sensor.

As wit hall profoto OCF gear this soft box is great. If you like to paint with light using flash and have a B1 or B2, this is another must have soft box. 5

Because I shoot all of our casual photos with my iPhone 10, I need a real flash, not just the LED provided by the phone, to use in backlit situations. Up until now, this seemed imposable because a phone is not really a camera. But the ProFoto people changed all that with the C1 and many of their other flash units, which sync perfectly with iPhones. I bought the C1 because it can easily slip into my pocket (my wife hates it when I drag a flash unit to a social event), but I also own the C1 Plus and A10, which can be used with my Canon 6D when triggered by ProFoto's remote transmitter, which mounts in the Canon's hot shoe. Granted, ProFoto flashes are not inexpensive, but they're beautifully made, sturdy, artfully boxed and ergonomically suited to fit in the palm of one's hand. Do I sound like a fan boy, or what? 5

This soft box works very well. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. But the big news isn't the soft box - it's the ingenious Profoto speed ring, which makes this 2x3' soft box (and the smaller 1.3' square one, which I also have) easy to set up and break down. And that means I'm happy to take the whole rig on location without any worries. 5

This is the smallest softbox Profoto makes. It is perfect for headshot photography. It is well made, durable and easy to set up and take down. I purchased the soft grid for the softbox and it is easy to install for more directional lighting. 5

OCF softbox is well built and produces a very good light. I use this with the Profoto B1's. Price is a little high but still less than the Profoto RFi softboxes. 5

I like the new lightweight material Profoto used for these new OCF modifiers. I bought two 1x3 softboxes to use for edge/rim lights on location and in studio. I also bought the grids for them and couldn't be happier! 5
